#How to effectively ask to be considered for a SWE junior position while being interviewed for mid?

Basically the recruiter offered me a mid-level interview, but I think I'm more of a junior level because my company had me doing unrelated Systems Eng work mostly. I included all the relevant work exp I can think of, but I don't have enough room on my resume to make that clarification. I want to be considered for both positions, but at the same time I don't want to sell myself short.

How often do companies offer Junior positions if the interviewee fails the mid-level? Or should I ask the recruiter or hiring manager to be considered for a junior position ahead of time?

i would just interview for mid and if its a larger company they’ll usually downlevel if u did well in the interview but maybe didnt quite meet bar for the mid level position or whatever it is

Sounds good, thanks KJ. I'm sure the interview would be more difficult, but I'll do my best. I guess I'll make that clarification (being involved with some unrelated work in my current job), only when the hiring manager asks for it.
