I've had jobs where I was simply later in the process than someone else --> "no"

just to be clear, if you did actually pass the interview then you would have gotten the job

so dont think "i did pass the interview"

I have given interviews a lot and idk getting the right answer isn’t “passing” by any means

Like I’m willing to agree you did well

But it doesn’t make sense to say you passed

#

I’m surprised you thought it was as easy as getting the right answer to the question

Lots of criteria for interviews

Only 1 is anything close to “they got the answer right”

Eh it’s just not that simple is all I’m saying not intended to convey hostility

I mean the issue you’re trying to find a reason when they didn’t give one

Guessing is pretty useless

As it most likely just assigns the incorrect answer to your query

See I have failed interviews plenty but I always try to suppress the “what else could it be” question

Like I just realize “who knows” is the better answer unless they tell you specifics

It’s actually worse that you know you got the answer right because now it’s really a mystery

I mean here’s the thing, I’ve failed people who got the answer right for various reason, maybe they didn’t explain themselves wel enough , maybe your communication wasn’t good, maybe they thought you were cheating blah blah blah

Maybe they didn’t like your code quality maybe they had follow up questions they wanted to ask but you took to long to answer the original question

The thing is again we should not be so invested emotionally in an interview
