#Part-Time PhD?

Got offered to come back for a PhD in Machine Learning by my supervisor a top 3 uni, which it hurts me to decline. Was alternatively offered part-time by my supervisor but I would want to still work full time.

Realistically this sounds excruciating; I'd be happy to work 10-20 hours a week using some afternoons and weekends but it's a PhD... and ML at that... which is probably going to involve lots of checking model training etc and I assume would require more time than they quote.

Wondering if anyone else has attempted this and what their experience was like? I must say I don't know if I foresee this being a career boost and is mostly to continue my previous research / stay on the cutting edge.

Not sure if you'll get much experience here. Try more academic/researched focused discords like Yannic Kilcher, Hugging Face, or places like /r/machinelearning

I know one person doing something similar in the US (EU PhDs I believe are different) and it does not sound fun, plus the added increase if competition for getting good publications.
