i think you are really overthinking this
i would personally never put this much thought into it
wouldnt even be on my mind after the conversation happened
i try to go off what was actually said and not what i think is intended
they didnt ask you to be your mentor so don't worry about it and you answered their question of "what do you think about?" in a normal way
i dont see an issue with anything here, its not your problem if they are in over their head, im unsure why you care so much tbh
like i think its cool you helped and help if asked but like yeah just relax
