#Former internship manager disconnected with me on LinkedIn

I recently left a Software Engineer internship after a year of working there. I received a very appealing offer for a non-programming role, and decided to take it as I wanted a break from the role I was in prior to graduation. I left on very good terms, giving over two weeks notice and giving both individual email goodbyes to everyone as well as saying goodbye in-person on the day I returned my employee materials.

Yesterday I just noticed my manager from that position disconnected with me on LinkedIn, as they appeared in my recommended feed. This comes out of nowhere to me, as we had a good in-person goodbye where they wished me best of luck. The only thing I can think of is it being a reaction to me leaving in-and-of-itself, rather than how I left.

This job is an extremely important reference for me, not to mention that the person who recruited me and oversaw my internship also said I would be welcomed back in the future. I sent my manager an invitation to connect which is still pending, but I am considering reaching out personally in a few days to figure this out. Is this a good idea?

Might not hurt to reach out but I wouldn't look too deep into it

Some people just keep those who are close on places like LinkedIn

Reaching out might get you answers
