#Mentor on PTO for 3 weeks, do I ask other dev questions or would that be burdensome?

I'm on the support team so I'm not actually on the dev team. But I expressed my interest in development, so I get to partner with a Sr SWE who scopes and guides me through some tickets. I usually get assigned 2-3 tickets/sprint but they're not actually on the sprint board so that KPI's don't suffer if I miss the sprint deadlines. I pretty much work on them whenever I'm free but I try to be diligent and finish them within the sprint period anyway.

She's on PTO for 3 weeks. To my surprise, the team still assigned me some tickets this sprint. I want to work on them but I'm stuck on one of the tickets. Should I wait for her to come back? Or should I ask other devs? I don't want to appear burdensome since I'm not actually a part of their team. Plus all their devs have 5-20 YOE so that makes it more intimidating.

and the alternative would be to..? do nothing for 3 weeks and stay stuck. That doesnt sound like a good idea 😝

You should definitely communicate. This can be as simple as going to that team and saying "hey, you assigned me a few tasks this sprint. I normally take X hours of Y's time to help me on things like this, but they're out until Z. What would you like to do?"

would suggest you be proactive here if you want to be seen as a possible new member of the dev team, plus if you do transfer in the future, youd know them better
