I am currently in the process of applying to 6 software companies. With some of them, I feel like I have to decline after one to three interviews. Am I burning any bridges by doing this? Would this be remembered amongst recruiters as bad behavior due to the amount of interviews ? Reasons are usually company size or office travel distance. All companies were interested in further talks with me, so it's a delicate situation to be upfront and declining...

no this isnt burning a bridge unless you did something crazy
declining interviews is not a big deal at all
i do it all the time
I see
Yeah I'm not concerned about how, but rather the quantity
Then again it's a big tech hub around me and I'm also applying nationwide
I guess I'm just a bit concerned about ending up in some internal or recruiter register as the guy who declines a lot, heh
this isnt a thing
just like in real life, no one thinks about you as much as you think
As someone who often sits on the hiring side of the table I wouldn't care. Even if you came back a year later having changed your mind and applied again.
People have different needs at different stages of their career and you owe loyalty to nobody but yourself.
