remove summary
probably an argument to remove the tutor job
can remove soft skills from skills
do you have any other metrics for your recent experience
um, i don't think so. tried to fit whatever i could into the relevant points
work closely with stakeholders…
delete
track and organize..
delete
develop robust, modular..
ehh bordering on fluff
Lead development of new MySQL…
- Should be “Led”
reducing payload size and response time…
- any numbers to back these claims up?
can remove coursework from education
can likely remove “Other” from skills (just let that be said within the experience bullet points)
can likely drop covid tracker and news aggregator projects as these are the weakest of the others ones
just trying to get u down to 1 page
Yes actually. I must have forgotten to update that point
can reduce top margin or ur header
appreciate it
nice’
ok. let me rework it based on your feedback and I'll soon upload an updated version
thanks for your help
ok, here's the update.
i'd rather keep the tutor position so it doesn't show a bizarre gap in my employment history
let me know your thoughts
ok thats fine ! (5 months isnt a bizarre gap btw, thats almost nothing lol especially considering the past few years)
looks way better though, a lot more clear and readable!
what are ur thoughts on the resume?
Haha. Appreciate the compliments. Thanks.
It was definitely tough to rework it. I had to think hard about what to keep and what to leave out
I had some ideas, but I kept jumping around because I was unsure whether I really want to sacrifice certain details for others
I guess my main fear is just selling my contributions short, really
what ideas did you have?
IMO i think youve done well highlighting what youve done. For nearly all bullets you 1) explained what was built/created, 2) said what u used to build/create it 3) added business metrics to show that you helped the company in some way
Big ones were points in my current job. I have a master list that I plug into this resume which serves as a template
It does feel odd reflecting on my experience and trying to pluck and mold those responsibilities in terms of accomplisments
Well, not odd, but challenging
IDK, maybe I don't give enough credit to myself? As I mentioned before, in one respect, I don't want to sell myself short, but in another, I want employers to know that I have the skills they want in a dev
i think maybe you are not giving enough credit to yourself, it looks like youve done a lot in a year! ive seen some resumes where people have maybe fixed a couple bugs and joined meetings for an entire year and it shows on the resume haha
Haha. Yeah. I am definitely not in a typical dev position
If anything, I've had to take charge and step up to the mantle of what a senior would do. It's rewarding to see my progress, but honestly, I don't want to end up in this kind of situation again. I still have a lot to learn, and I want to learn from the best in a collaborative atmosphere that cultivates growth and professional development
