I'm graduating in 2 weeks, and I didn't receive a fulltime job offer from my internship (cyber security startup company) due to issues with HR. Apparently, they hired too many interns and had to let all the newer interns (me included) go. That happened about a month ago, and since then I've been scrambling to get a full time job before I graduate. I've been applying to entry level positions in my state as well as fully remote positions. Moving out of my state is a deal breaker because the cost of living is really low here, and I have a lot of family here and also like the area in general. I've sent about 200 applications so far, and I've had only 2 interviews. Both went very well and I was able to make it to the final round, but I ended up being rejected by both places because they found someone with more experience. I think it's just a numbers game at this point because I tend to do pretty well in interviews, but getting an interview in the first place is hard for some reason. I'm guessing it's my resume, so please be brutally honest with me on how I can improve it. Do I need to fix the formatting, do more impressing personal projects, etc?

formatting could use work, but not a ton of work
reduce left and right margin
maybe add horizontal line after section names
definitely adding more line spacing between bullet points, they look smushed together
can probably cateogrize skills like so #1008225248098926753 message
last 2 projects are weak so my 2cent would be to replace those
are u going for more cyber security jobs? or more swe jobs?
I want to go for swe jobs
yeah so i would definitely replace the last two projects in that case
Ok thanks! I did have a hard time fitting all this in one page anyway lol. Things will look cleaner after removing that
Too much space, no summary, looks very empty. Let me know if you need help.
summary isnt really necessary.. maybe if u have 5+ YOE
What type of swe roles are you looking for? Good to narrow down that as well if possible
That's a good question lol. I guess anything that doesn't have to do with web dev, machine learning, or data science.
Specifically embedded then? Or what are some examples then haha
Embedded sounds cool to me, but I don't have much experience with that. I'm not sure what other examples there are lol. It seems like everything these days is web dev, machine learning, or data science
Maybe I'll bite the bullet and do web dev since I know a decent amount about it from classes in college
Definitely worth trying to figure out what you want to focus on, and double down on the specific skills for the position
A lot of companies have incorporated practical coding session exercises in their interview process (for example for a frontend web dev position may ask you build x in react) and trying to go broad and build practical skills in every area is difficult to start
I like desktop application stuff and I guess that's it lol. If I knew more about embedded, I'd probably do that
