Hi there, I am looking to start applying for web developer positions and would appreciate any constructive feedback/review on my resume. I do not have any previous work experience and I'm still taking The Odin Project's Ruby on Rails Curriculum. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Review the pinned post and other resumes and remake the whole thing
i just finished remaking it
should i delete this post and create a new one for the new resume? or just post the new one here?
Just post the new one here
Much better
anything i need to improve on?
Hi man
1 thing
Are those certs like certs from the big 3 AWS, google and Microsoft ? Or IT cert like CompTIA or ISC2?
If not a cert where you pay money and go to the testing center or get proctored online with e-verify
Then if you have that on your resume the company will chuckle and throw your resume in a trash bin
Because it’s just a cert of completion
You education section is trash
Get rid of everything except your bachelors
Because it just that counts
Idk what is upskilled but that is legit e-verifiable cert then put it in the certificate section with a link to verify
Your project section bullet points are too long
You need to be concise
Don’t brag too much about your project
Recruiter read like thousands of these already
Especially for these are projects you did buy following a tutorial not necessary bad but you probably don’t understand why this and that works but just monkey see monkey do
Your resume if any I would say only warrant half a page
Sorry man
And I realized your degree isn’t CS
Are those certs like certs from the big 3 AWS, google and Microsoft ? Or IT cert like CompTIA or ISC2?
na they are just a verified completion certificate for completing the said courses.
Get rid of everything except your bachelors
Oh really? because i only done it for a year so im not even doing it.
You are competing against trained professionals in a field that isn’t yours
didnt complete it tho so i dont have the cert
You should get a job in your own lane first then switch
Your main stuff is IT
In IT only certs and experience matters
Get CompTIA+
No i didnt lol. I built those projects myself.
truthful but painful 😭
Then pay for a bootcamp study while working
Then maybe switch if you find a job
No way around it man
And if you work IT for a company that has SWE job you can jump team after bootcamp
What? i want to be a web developer thats what iv been doing
Internally by networking
But you are not though?
I don’t see anything here that you getting paid to do. Are you really a web dev?
can you like write a paragraph or something please instead one sentence and send cause im so confused right now. So many messages i can't fathom what's being said
I am on a bus man
Sorry
oh lol
Well i obviously dont have professional or work experience but ye i have been developing websites for like a year and a half now, mainly Full-Stack.
From taking courses i listed in my educations section. If i remove all of them and just keep the bachelor, i stopped doing the bachelor 3/4 years ago.
Then you don’t even get to keep the bachelor there
They hired company do background check you know?
That’s grounds for termination
Like
1 day before work
what?
i have stated in my resume i didnt finish it lol what u on about. DNF = Did Not Finish
They don’t do it directly they hire a company to do that for them
No one knows what DNF means
So your entire education section is gone man
Sorry
Aight, thanks for your input and feedback
@upbeat gale would you suggest that i do some freelancing work to get some "experience"?
i would 100% dwindles down the certificates and education section
i loke the projects!
instead of saying “May 2022 - May 2022” just say “May 2022”
i would consider maybe contribute to open source a couple times to fill out the space after removing some of the education + certificates
i disagree with the person above that u dont need to runoff and get a job in IT just cus u start off ur degree in IT
seems a bit moot. Would just apply to SWE
if thats what ur wanting
ye im gonna do that because you are like 5th person to tell me that as well so...
that sounds good
Well i want to be a full-stack developer but i guess that seems far off right now with some hard reality hitting
full stack isnt far off
its just harder cus u dont have a degree but its not impossible and plenty of self taught people get fullstack/swe jobs
the main idea of what i was saying in regards to that is that it isnt necessary to run off and apply to IT jobs just cus u took a couple courses as the other person was suggesting
not unless youre wanting to dabble in IT as well, but doesnt sound like thats what u want to do so theres no need to do that.
ye i need to study way more and multi-task because im still undertaking The Odin Project's full-stack ROR curriculum
