Technically not CS but a front end web development, a bit of full stack web development, UX/UI design and graphic design skills. Thus, a lot of my peers haven't been using the CS standard templates reccomended by CS Career Hub. Thus I'll be sharing 2 resume options, one with CS template standards and one without and you guys can judge. Looking for internships, practicums or jr level positions at small or big companies.
#Entry level front end developer looking for internships

Both have github, linkedin etc linked at the top
And I can add live links and github links to both if you guys think that'd increase my odds
why is ur relevant coursework listed like that?
why not make it actually expand out to the full page width length
looks messy and confusing otherwise
please find another project that isnt a weather app
that project is way too over done and on too many resumes
esp since that project tends to be ripped directly from tutorials
in the 2nd resume, “AP Comp Sci”, AP as in advanced placement? the classes u do in highschool? if so that can be removed
the 2nd one isnt terrible formatting wise but theres just a fat amount of space on the bottom right whereas the resume is more filled with the 1 column one
“building web and mobile applications”
- where do u list experience creating mobile apps?
ur capstone project, you fail to mention what exactly the project even is/was/does and what YOU contributed code-wise (looks like you were more a PM than anything)
also if some of these are personal projects, i dont understand self assigning a role/job title
like if u did the project by urself then i dont understand saying u were a “front end developer”
- what else would u be?
- its listed like it was for a job or something?
Excellent feedback from both of you, this is precisely what kind of advice I was looking for
AP Comp Sci def gonna go
The 2nd one is a screenshot with not full page length, based off these notes the 2nd resume can go in the trash
Good point with the weather app, mine looks nice but it's too simple and overdone and easy so fair point
The capstone project was the mobile app, you make excellent points on being much clearer with detail
These were made pretty hastily hence the mistakes, I greatly appreciate the input and I'll heed and improve said advice
that's a good question for projects in general, half of them were with other students in a front end role, other half are projects in a individual setting but still in said role
What projects have you used figma on?
Sometimes a recruiter might see a skill, and not see your skill represented in a job or project, and toss you right there.
Great point
FirstMaps was built with figma amd one other project not on the list
OnePlant was made with Adobe XD
plop it on buddy, I've been rejected before for not having it in there
oh ALSO "using, SEO"
why is the comma there
Thanks, this is why proof reading and feedback is important
Is adding links to the projects a plus or not a good idea?
The portfolio link with them is on the top
meh not a make or break, a lot of people do not visit links so not the biggest deal
Made two resume's since, one with all the feedback given (1st) and the 2nd was suggested by a friend (2nd and 3rd)
Fixed, see above
Thanks for all the suggestions both of you, open to anything else and preferences between the two above
the 2nd one does not look good IMO, sorry to your friend. 2 columns is generally not great for automated parsers that some@companies use and then u also go to 2 pages which is also a nono and then the 2nd page is full of white space
“React project database”? this wording is confusing a little bit. I dislike frontend so confuse any ignorance, but does react have a database?
is the info app a IOS and Android app? just IOS? just Android? IOS, Android, and Desktop?
That settles it in that I'll use the first then
That was just confusing wording, it's a react project that also has a back end database but those are two different things
I'll fix that wording and apply with the first
The info app is React Native, can run on both so I'll also specify that
Added two lines of sentences on the top, I hope that's alright as I believe it's important to elaborate more on what kind of front end developer you are immediately
