#When should I bring up salary with a recruiter?

I got hired in August by a large company in my country, and now I am starting to get contacted by recruiters on LinkedIn. My primary motivator in life is my salary, and I know how much I will need to consider moving from my current company. When contacted by recruiters, I asked about the salary range. One replied and the other made up some bullshit of not being able to tell (internal recruiter). The internal one wants to setup a meeting, however, I don't want to bother unless they know they can match my demand. Should I tell the internal recruiter straight that I am only interested if they can match my expectations, or should I bring it up at the meeting?

Probably soon, mostly because you want to force them to give the first number.

There's a pin in #communication with a bunch of long reading on salary negotiation; you should read all of that. You also probably want to be looking at salary-sharing sites and lists that people make of the highest-paying companies and focusing solely on how to get into those.

Talking in-person is helpful for many things, but in negotiation it's usually bad for you because you're not a professional negotiator and so you'll be on the back foot and not able to take your time to respond

How is this response?

"Hello X, happy new year!

I think the role sounds exciting, and your workplace looks reasonable. I am currently very satisfied with my compensation at Y, and therefore I would expect that you at least can match my salary of (current salary * 1.2) per month. If this is within your budget, we can have a talk. 🙂 "
