I am in my final year of university. I have done 3 internships and hopefully graduate this June.
I am looking for a grad job.
Recently, a HFT company has reached out to me. I applied to this company last year and they have over this time, for some odd reason, shown a lot of interest in me. They have invited me to their office for dinner, met with them multiple times to talk about the role they have in mind for me both with team member + HR etc.

**I am confused by this. **I am not a great engineer. I understand I go to a target school and this may be why but I am by no means anywhere near as good as the other students on my course. Why are they so keen? I barely have much to provide? One of the reasons I suspect could also be that I am doing a multidisciplinary degree and have done internships in this and the new role they are creating is exactly in this field.

I am out of my depth. I get the feeling that they believe I am far more competent & knowledgeable than I actually am. A colleague of mine recently interviewed there for a similar role and I know for fact I could not pass their technical interviews. I also checked questions online and briefly tried getting examples from HR and I simply know that I cannot pass their technical hiring interviews. However, given a <year to start leetcoding etc I know that eventually, I can get to a point where I can competently attend their interviews.
Now, I know I would be beyond stupid to just flat out say no I am not interested and also would be stupid to just go ahead and interview for the role since the probability of success is very very low. What would be the best way for me to continue to show interest but at the same time delay this to further down the line when I am prepared?
