Hi everyone! Welcome to Loop's Best VGM. In this contest, voters will choose their favorite VGM track on Loop's songlist and then vote who's the best of them all. This will be done with the help of a model I'll be experimenting with!

At the moment, we're starting the nominations phase, where songs are picked to fill a posterior bracket tournament; and you (yes, you), are in charge of picking which ones should meet the final cut! Here are the rules to participate.

  • First, ping @ Prince46 on this thread, letting me know you want to sign up. Name an emote you want to claim, as you will need it to help songs get in.
  • Once I see your message, I will add you on the User list and you'll be raring to go.
  • You will be granted 15 single credits, each worth 1 point; and 3 double credits, each worth 2 points (These boost the value of single credits, and are not independent).
  • These credits are used to submit your own songs, or supporting songs already posted. These songs are posted by me in the NOMINATIONS THREAD, separate to this one.
  • To have a song included in the bracket, it will need 5 points. This ensures 3-5 users are helping it reach the goal, which verifies the popularity it has.
  • The nominations ends when 32 songs are picked.

How to nominate songs:

  • To nominate a song, DM me the name of it, using Loop's songlist format (https://nintendoloop.de/html/songlist.html). Please include a Youtube link and mention if you'll be using single or double.
  • Also make sure your song hasn't been posted yet!
  • Remember your song must be Videogame Music, not a remix or otherwise. I "made" a game list (thanks Rahenbow 🙂 ) which highlights which albums are or aren't elegible, it's on the description. (Feel free to argue if non-elegible albums or songs actually plays in videogames, so I can rectify it.)
  • Once I catch your message, I will include the song in the NOMINATIONS THREAD. Please react with your personal emote in the song you've nominated as soon as you can.

How to support songs:

  • To support a song, simply react with your personal emote in the song's message on the NOMINATIONS THREAD.
  • To use a double boost, please react to the song with 2️⃣ or 🇩 .
  • To unsupport a song, simply remove the reaction. It won't remove the song itself from the list, but your credit will be free to use on something else you'd like.
  • You may change the credits among songs at any time, as long as the song hasn't met the threshold. I will keep track of your points in the users sheet, but try to keep up yourself as well!
  • When a song reaches the 5 points, it's added to the final list, and your credits are spent for good. Songs that reaches the 5 points are bolded and have a 🔒 emoji alongside.
  • Side note, feel free to ping me if you put the final point to a song, since I might not be online all day.

Bracket:

  • I will develop on this once we reach there, but the concept is simple. The songs that enter will face 1v1, and you will vote for which song you like more. The winner advances to the next round, and so on, until it's down to one, the winner of Loop's Best VGM! Please look forward to that.

Truth is that the system is a bit complex, but I think I have worked it well to adapt to a Discord server, and as I mentioned, it's experimental.
