#TLoZ: Tears of the Kingdom Spoiler Thread!
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
but like
explaining why the most base mechanics and enemies of the last game are completely gone would make sense
Actually that being said
Based on what I pieced together form the story ||zelda turned into a dragon in order to heal the master sword and ‘travel in time’, as she is immortal she can withstand time and reach the present day totk||
||so then how is she still… Zelda in botw||
||technically speaking there would still be a light dragon there||
I don't think I'm going to read that
I'm only 30 hours in so maybe it is referenced
If you’ve got the master sword that should give the gist of it
CLUTCH MODE #TearsOfTheKingdom #Zelda #NintendoSwitch
I was actually freaking out at this because i ran out of fairies and those blocks one shot me
Also weak weapons
there's so much to discover in this game..
#gaming #zelda #botw #tearsofthekingdom
TONY HAWK
THATS SO FKING COOL
WHAT
Oh yea
The animated series is canon now
The 80s animated series
||Bomb shield jump||
I went into uni today for an online lecture that I didn’t know would be online
So basically I could’ve stayed home the whole day
I’m feeling the Zelda withdrawal
I have so much I want to do still
Or where the hell is all the Sheikah Stuff, you even see it used in the new towers, runes and all, but the entire world was littered with so much Sheikah tech it's pretty much weird that everyone forgot about it (unless this gets explained and I am not far enough) (or maybe they were just afraid of it getting taken over again and just destroyed it all)
||the great plateau shiekah shrines all have chasms where they used to be||
But all other shrines aren’t like that
Does the master sword glow in the presence of gloom or gloom covered enemies?
lol (not really a spoiler but doesn't hurt)
“OHHHHHHHHHH!”
“THANK YOU!”
Nah I bet they were all conveniently crushed by sky rocks
Took me way too long to realise beedle’s hair is his hair and not a cool looking beanie hat thing
You thought he was bald?
It’s like Brendan in Pokémon
Does he have white hair or it’s just a beanie- it’s just a beanie
I really hope there’s some sort of guardian in the game
Like a jump scare thing
Like you go underground and discover buried guardians
One turns on
Piano escalates
Ptsd kicks in
I cry tears
Brother I had an encounter yesterday in the field
God damn ||malice hands like what, no mercy, they tore me apart and suffocated me in gloom||
I hate them
||honestly scarier than guardians because you never know when they appear||
had the same experience on my first encounter
but then i just stayed far away and shot a few bomb arrows at them which made it really easy to defeat them
||at least guardians are… you know big enough to see them and are relatively easier to avoid||
||how did you fare against the next phase ||
||<#1106197832148463636 message>||
I had no chance at all and will not click for now lmaoaoao
I just strolled around with my 4 hearts
||I was on my horse but they literally just swallowed me||
||I escaped on next resume by climbing over a ruin wall, they don't pass that apparently||
||when I fought them inside the deku tree at one point they stopped attacking me and just stood there while I was completely backed into a corner, I just kept firing arrows for my life||
Is there an offical list of VA in the game?
I think I recognise Sonia’s voice but I don’t know for sure
The final boss of TOTK
Floweblight Ganon
(Not spoilers it’s just funny)
i don't think there's a complete one
there's a few partial ones but I don't think any of them have Sonia
Finally killed ||my first gleeock||
Jesus Christ that was hard
I cheesed the “first phase” by jumping off the platform and bullet timing it as soon it was recovered from my attacks
The ice variant started raining down icicles and it took me a while to realise I have to stand on and recall my way above the storm to reach the ||gleeock||
BRUH
I FOUND MY FIRST LYNEL
BY SHILEDSURGING DOWN A LITTLE

Just beat the gerudo dungeon
That’s the main 4 point quest done
I wonder how you get to the final boss
I’m not gonna do that now because I don’t want to be the person to say “I beat totk in 3 days”
i havent done any of the main story quests lol
just me vibing around and doing shrines
I think I’m doing them now so that I don’t have to ‘plan out’ what I’m doing yknow
“I need to do the main stuff eventually”
So do them now and get it over with
I’ve barely touched the depths except for some quests
only activated like two roots in the depths
i do know i have to come back to the depths soon tho cuz theres stuff i wanna do
I barely survived on one heart. I too have been at 4 hearts this whole time having now invested 12 full LoBs into stamina. I just want to ask which sick bastard decided that ||each hand has an individual health bar||. What is this Dark Souls enemy design? Ridiculous I just can’t kill them all before taking too much damage.
Enemies in this game hit like truck-kun
Starting to think I need to invest into HCs
But stamina stronk
I was swallowed whole and I am not ashamed of it
So you're saying you like being sw- nevermind
Think I accidently stumbled across the final boss?
'accidently' he says having been like 'this is a bad idea I should not be going here' for about 90 minutes beforehand
||Bomb Arrows|| are your friend for this little guy
They give him a little tickle on the head (hand? Eye?) and he goes away
Just unlocked all memories and the final memory
Quite an interesting take on ||Zelda as a character||
and I stupidly didn't think to ||get the travel medallion|| beforehand
Feel like this is the most plot importance she’s had in a long time
How?
For this I mean
If it was the final boss
it took quite a lot of effort to get to
which is fair enough I am not final boss ready
but like it would've been nice to be able to get back there without having to do the preamble beforehand
Did you go to hyrule castle lol
I did
got all ready for it too
Hyrule Castle has a banger soundtrack
again
both layers
also I was having thoughts about the Master Sword
If it's where I think it is there had better be a damned good explanation
if it isn't where I think it is
there had also be a damned good explanation
Idk how tf you guys are so far into the game
I've legit done zero story content and barely scratched at what's available lol
I'm more story-orientated than game-orientated
don't get me wrong I don't think/hope I'm not halfway through yet
I just don't get as distracted by sidequests
much
I did get stuck on the Great Plateau for a few hours
That one was
eye opening
I’ve barely done any side quests
I’ve only done the major side adventures
The master sword is where you expect it
To avoid potential spoilers
I’ll leave it at that
no
that's not ||Yunobo||
nothing you can say to me will convince me otherwise
what the fuck
HAHAHAHA
....fear
Alright well
We achieved peak fiction
Korok transport mission shenanigans have made me laugh so hard.
"Oof..."
same
I've spent my time doing all the shrines and the underground in the center of Hyrule
Haven't done any story beyond briefly checking up on Kakariko
and ofc the prologue
Ive been mostly running around the world doing side quests, getting shrines and collectinf korok seeds
Havent really been doing alot of the main story quests although thats changing cuz im in Zoras domain
100% accurate to my adventure lol
I did a suicide mission to Hyrules Castle
I haven't even visited any of the other races yet.
I did visit Hateno which was whack
|| https://vxtwitter.com/OshawottKing23/status/1658153421147635712?t=1ZfDabjkYXChlfdVd2CyPA&s=19 ||
Also it has been me slaying these guys
PRO GAMER #TearsOfTheKingdom #Zelda #NintendoSwitch
I also went and visited Eventide and wow. This game is magic.
Also I remember scoffing a lot at the Ascend ability. I figured that'd be situational at best and wouldn't amount to much.
Other than Ultrahand which obviously gets the most use I've used Ascend more than any
It's easily the best utility and quality of life this game could've gotten. Brilliant idea.
I think I've used Recall the least? It just doesn't feel very functional in heated situations yet. I've been experimenting with it though. If anything it pauses the game to give me a chance to analyze what's going on. Some of these combat situations are ridiculous.
HERE HE IS
Sometimes i tend to forget i have recall and ascend and forget that i can do some insanity with those two abilities
i rarely use Recall but i need to remember to use it more often. it's incredibly useful, and it's range is huge.
any time an enemy shoots something at you, you can recall the projectile.
need to reach a high place? grab an object with ultra hand, hold it high up and then let it fall to the ground. go stand on the object and recall it back up.
Side Quest spoiler: ||The controversial Hylian Zora friendship is back. This time Sasan and Finley are working together to find a shrine.
They really got a strong bond!||
For anyone who doesn't know

Special thanks to QuestWithAaron for the translations and joining me on this video.
htt...
am done for today
i did another risky trip to Hyrule castle to try and get the Hylian Shield
i got it by sheer dumb luck
Does it break?
Unfortunately yes
:(
it was breakable in the first game iirc
They were really nice to make some amiibo exclusives obtainable in game
There’s a quest to obtain ||the fierce diety armour + sword, and doing the typhlo ruins quest gives you the sword of seven sages||
||and apparently there’s an armour set in the design/artstyle of Link from link’s awakening remake||
There’s another side quest where you can ||infiltrate the Yiga hideout and you can learn the earthwind technique the blademasters use as well as get the thunder helm||
Finally got the hylian shield
It’s really easy to get tbh
||Same spot where the shrine in hyrule castle was in BOTW||
||be aware there is gloom spawn (the hands) as you walk through the docks||
For what I can tell
You can’t fight the final boss without doing main story quests
||You don’t actually fight the final boss once your main story objective directs you to hyrule castle (when you’ve done the 4 other quests)||
Ha, I've actually found myself stuck at a shrine here for once..
Anyone here reached Mayachin Shrine, out of curiosity?
|| I've been stuck for about an hour, trying to figure out how to launch the ball to the target here haa ||
Never mind, I got it now.. 😭
So i played for about 3 hours now and it's pretty fun so far but oh but was ||the first snow area|| a pain. I ran out of materials to cook and died like 10 times
I’ve finally started the second row of hearts 😭
||if you still want weapon mounts, head to tarrey town||
I gave it up and haven't tried again yet. Any hints are aprecciated
Hmm..
Best hint I can think of is, don't overcomplicate things
The straightforward solution is the best one
Those things man they give me flashbacks to the ones from Wind Waker
I think i reached that one, not sure
Ill let ya know
Is it the one with ||baseball!||
I got stuck trying to go for a solution where I'd hold the ball in place, then use the two logs to strike it in
But, I couldn't get the angle right, nor enough power to have the ball actually reach the switch..
|| Then, I went for the straightforward solution of just playing pinball here ||
||I just let it roll twords me and hit it||
||the extra credit one was the one they gave me lots of trouble, I spent at least 15 minutes trying to angle the ball right only to discover you don't even need to deal with the obstacle||
I think this is too early for me to say this but
Im sorry
Remote controlled bombs are like the one i miss
I kinda miss those too, but I feel that had to happen
Remote bombs were just too useful
I really feel the lack of free damage in TotK
Well
The work week has begun again
And after a full weekend plus Monday off to play I can say
This game is a game that games.
I've done so much I don't even know where to start.
While completing exactly zero story progress at that lmao
(almost 0 I guess I did the first ||Dragon Tears|| part with Impa)
Oh damn
||the master sword is a required story objective not an optional main objective||
I guess because it also gives the total scope of the story
Have unlocked all memories/cutscenes now
We are so kicking dorfy’s ass
The final main story objective
Honestly
I’ve come so far
I’m going to do the final boss
It’s a long and hard way to the actual final boss
If anyone is at the final boss pint
I highly highly reccomend setting down a travel medallion there
Holy shit
I’m not gonna say anything about the fight or the build up to it
But my god
I am underprepared
lmaooo
Tbh I just want to do the main stuff so I can do side quests after
Because yknow
Get that out of the way first
If that makes sense
Oh of course that's how my wife plays, that's how many people play. I understand I'm in a minority doing almost everything else but Main Story first lmao.
I'm the kind of player that when you tell me to go in the direction but don't limit my freedom then I'm going to go in the opposite direction.
That doesn't stop me from being like JEEZ you made it far. Like I'm thinking these four regions have exploration/lead up to temples/temples/post quest cooldown/travel to the next one. How long does that take and how much have you done in between via inventory expansion, shrines for stamina and health, etc.
There's a lot of factors unless you're legit still a 4-hearted Lonk against the world just powering through XD
This game is not small by a longshot
AND enemies hit so hard it almost seems better suited to go on Shrine hunting/gear expansion than just ramming into hard fights over and over ya know
So all that combined.
In my eyes you've gone a LONG way in what I assume a short time period XD
It's impressive
wtf
You get ||6 heart containers from story||
And at least 1 from a major side quest
Oh wow that's nice.
In my defence I had finished my assignments for the week and my weekend had nothing lmao
I guess my assumption that ||beating a temple gives you a HC like the classics|| holds true then
Which is great validation for me
Indeed
Did you do all the Geoglyphs too???
If it makes you feel better (slight spoilers about the area not the fight) ||there is gloom everywhere and I tried fighting the final boss with 3 hearts because everything was gone lmfao||
Yeah I guess you're right since they're so big and visible
How much of the Depths have you done? I guess the Depths is almost exclusively side mission related
Except I Think there is a temple in there
From what I gather from dialogue
||there is one temple and technically another but it’s not a dungeon||
Dungeon is the better word yeah whoops*
^
Ok yeah I’m
Not gonna fight it
Almost as many lights as me even though you focused story. Crazy
Absolutely underprepared considering my food stuff lol
Can’t teleport out once you’re in the final area
Sooooo
Luckily I kept making manual saves!
Yeah I’m gonna legit start side questing now
It’s very hard
This game will kill speedrunners LOL
They'll find a way.
Oh yeah
I think yeah
How many of you have done Hateno stuff? Wondering if y'all are on Team Cece or Team Reede
It’s a lot less straightforward than Botw but you can rush into the final boss
Team cece
You can choose teams?
Judging by the dialouge I thought it would default to cece
The game asks you straight up in the moment when Reede confronts Cece if you support either one lol but if you say "Undecided" Cece just assumes you're on her side. I said Undecided but after doing a few more quests around Hateno I think I'm team Cece.
Reede is very kind though still think he deserves it too.
Ah yeah I did undecided too
That makes sense
Have you done anything regarding the Yiga clan?
If you really like exploring I suggest going to the Yiga hideout
Because it will send you further for some other things
Damn this game keeps getting me side tracked
Right when im about to start a quest or finish one
Suddenly i spot a shrine
I love the feeling of finding a shrine on the surface while in the sky
And then abandoning all your plans and diving right down to it
I wanna give some quick thoughts on the game before I sleep + I’ve reached a point where I’ve seen pretty much the whole story except the direct ending
Story related, ||ngl something about Zelda being MIA doesn’t sit right with me, the game you think she’s here but no she’s the funny looking dragon you see sometimes (which fucks with the story of botw because… Zelda is right there), but other than that, much better improvement over BOTW’s story, mainly because they expand more after you beat the regional phenomena quest and having the champion descendants fight with you is AWESOME||
Gameplay, ||tad overwhelming at times with resource management but my god they’ve made HD Minecraft. The fact the devs saw players break the physics of BOTW and implemented that as a core feature of this game says so many things. Also expanded enemy variety. Ironically it means I see less enemies like lizalfos and especially Lynels but it definitely makes each battle more unique, especially with the new overworld bosses added. Also want to quickly point that thank god flurry rushes are faster, they were kinda boring in Botw because on most bosses it was just a backflip and flurry rush, repeat, but now with the added speed I really feel like I’m doing more damage. My only issue is they patched out whistle sprinting and we can’t windbomb anymore
||
This is kind of how I've been playing this whole game tbh. Seeing something like a Skyview Tower in the distance and saying "Alright that's where I'm going"
Then an hour later I find myself elbow deep in the Depths following Naydra on their set flight path because it's cool to follow lol. Then I remember two hours later "Oh yeah I meant to do that Tower whoops"
I remember diving into a chasm and almost speared myself on a dragon that was coming out
XD
Also you can chill and ride on them while they fly in the depths
You get a new material from them that can only be collected by standing on them
Yo I know what I'm doing tonight.
Standing on a dragon is uh important at some point
Ganon won’t ever see this coming
i cant help but say ''Fortnite'' whenever Link jumps off an island
and dives
(i think this game basically shows proof that a Nintendo character can be in Fortnite)
Link has access to zonai devices too
Like
Rocket
Flamethrower
He really is a fortnite character
But they’ll still carry over weapon durability
Yea
God fucking dammit
every memory I've found has been in the wrong order
so they make no fucking sense
or the ones that do make sense have so much less power to them
they should've unlocked in a set order
given that none of their ||tear|| locations match up with the actual memory
Found out that ||Sonia|| dies
Then found the memory before it
but still haven't actually found the one where it happens
now I've just found what I assume to be the final one chronologically
featuring characters I haven't seen yet!
so fucking cool
really love it
like the story is cool!
weaker than the gameplay
but still cool!
but imagine how much cooler it would've been if I'd found out where ||Zelda|| is after seeing literally anything else
BotW's memories worked bc it didn't really 'matter' what order you viewed them in
ok maybe the calamity appearing should've been last
but they were all tied to locations
anyway
on a brighter note
||I was fucking spot on when I said Zelda was on the Plateau in that one trailer cutscene||
THERE HE IS
The legendary Poe
this is an amiibo only unlock, right
Don’t think so
You can get BOTW amiibo exclusives through normal quests now
Ie ||majoras mask, fierce diety armour, sword of seven sages||
Its actually both an amiibo unlick and a overworld quest reward
||North of Hyrule Ridge, a archipielago go to the 2nd largest island called the Thundra Plateau||
Careful tho theres a Hinox
You can save it!
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude
(Hyrule Castle lockup spoilers)
|| There is a Gloom monster there and when I beat it PHANTOM GANON came up weqpohfwqfhe98 ||
||there’s more||
Is it possible to get the champion’s weapons again?
I assume you can still add them to your compendium because the successors wield the weapon except riju doesn’t have urbosa’s shield
In ||Goron City||. WHAT HAPPENED TO SWEET BABY ||YUNOBO|| OH MY GOD
Not with my six hearts lol
You just gotta believe
Finally advanced the story past the point when you get back on the surface
Gotta say, the presence of ||memories|| (returning system from BOTW) makes me very nervous
Don't the hands alaways spawn one? No matter where they appear?
I guess I did pull off ||Queen Gibdo|| with four hearts
So apparently ||there's rematches against bosses in the underground||
There's nothing like ||fighting Colgalra again but in the dark with only a platform lit below|| (post-Hebra spoilers)
It felt amazing
Capitalism
IM IN THE FINAL BOSS
HOLY SHIT
IM SO SCARED
and that’s all I’ll say about it
||I beat the first 2 phases||
IVE DONE KT
FINAL BOSS
holy shoot this is a hard game
English VA cast (as credited) if anyone is curious
I WAS RIGHT ABOUT ||SONIA||
Doesn't the questline tell you where to go next? Impa specifically tells you? Is that not true? Because if she leads you to Tears out of order still then I'd rather wait until an official list order comes out.
If you're just running to whatever Geoglyph you spot and activating it I can only imagine how that'd go.
Are you sure??? She straight up tells you where to go after the first one
||once you enter the forgotten temple she will stay there essentially||
Is that not the case for all?
||thats not for a memory||
Are the Geoglyph tears NOT memories?
They are
It's called that in the Menu lmao
But where she directs you after the first one is ||not for a memory||
||it leads you to a mini map of hyrule that has all the geolyphs on it, basically a guide||
Credits are rolled
I don’t want to explicitly say anything about the final boss because it’s… too soon
But god this game is good
Guess I'll look up a geoglyph order then lol
If you want I can dm you the order
Just goes to show the downfall of keeping your game as free and open as possible while also trying to tell a compelling story is difficult. They decided not to make that quest linear to keep with the freedom of the game and it ends up hurting it.
Each memory is numbered on the map as you see it
Yeah that's perfect. When I am ready to do the glyphs I'll use it for sure.
Whenever! Yeah thanks!
Np
First game clear and I’ve completed this much % of the game
Ngl that’s way more than I thought lmao
The game was only 5 days old lol I didn't know
just thought it was exciting
re: memories out of order - I found one early just getting distracted by shrines before I even made it to lookout landing lol
hello im not stopping for long, just to share these
I started playing today
first korok I found got dropped, ofc
I didn't realise there was constantly blowing wind across this lake cause I'm blind, so I did Deforestation™️ instead
this korok is now paste
Just finished the ||Fire Temple||
easily the best one so far
by a long long distance
||Wind and Water Temples|| felt like Divine Beasts without the movement gimmick of the Divine Beasts
but this?
this was insane
I was actually beginning to wonder if it was possible to have a ''''''traditional'''''' Zelda dungeon in this engine bc, by the very nature of the runes, it's so easy to break out of an intended path
||but the way the Fire Temple is laid out kind of negates that. Each of the gongs is its own unique puzzle and, while I'm sure I cheesed at least two of them, it didn't feel easy||
and the music
just like the others
insane
Actually incorporating ||Daruk's Theme|| into it too?
This ||dungeon|| might just have single-handedly elevated this game above BotW for me
not to let it away without a complaint though
typing this as the ||ancestor|| cutscene plays in the background
happy to ignore it bc
it's exactly the same cutscene for each region
pretty disappointing
still
This was impressive
god I can't believe they're actaully called secret stones
what a fucking stupid name
when you even have Tears in the name of the game
also Yunobo's voice is the single most annoying thing I've ever heard
Also love how we just ||completely forget about rescuing Zelda after defeating the boss||
good job yunobo
trur
I thought goronz saying “goro” at the end of their sentences was a weird speech tick
Not just
A thing
Unless it actually means something
I don't know how I feel about the idea that|| ancient Hylians intermarried with goat-bird people.||
||Hylian marriage with fish people is strange enough as is.||
I like how I got|| blood mooned literally the first night I am on land.||
There’s so many blood moons omg
I feel Iike 3 in game days would have passed before “oh goddamit”
||I mean have you seen Sonia||
Only positive thing I got on my first night was that I halo dropped onto an area with a bunch of useful flowers.
So after 50 or so hours, I finally completed one of the four areas on the map it tells you to go to once you beat the prologue. Turns out, they are || dungeon quests. || The one I did specifically was the Rito one || with the ship || .
Impressions: Not super impressed with the design of the || dungeon layout|| itself tbh, though the ||boss fight was amazing. Easily the best new 3D Zelda boss in over a decade (considering BOTW was the only 3D Zelda before this in that time...)||
||It kinda just felt like a Divine Beast with a little more flavor in the design. Activate the 6 turbines + a boss and it's over. Wasn't all that difficult either. ||
I'll say this though, the presentation was fantastic
I loved how you || slowly make your way up some sky islands to there with the little bird kid + the music getting more active. ||
Oh, I also found out that many of the DLC QoL features from BOTW return in this game but they are locked behind a quest
At least they aren't making them DLC again lol
Ok
Hear me out
They’re gonna do dlc for this game like don’t even deny it
Master cycle zero
But
Because it crossed over with MK8DX
in TOTK it will have anti-gravity wheels
That will allow you to basically fly or hover etc
And offers more mobility than the paraglider compared to that of the dive suit which grants extra mobility while diving
But you can only use from a grounded surface
God the detail in this game is so good
After doing the gerudo main quest
You’ll get thrown into jail if you walk into the town with no clothes
But you’ll also get thrown into jail if you wear the Yiga clan armour
The jail guard even makes a comment about it if you speak to her with it
ok i need some help
how do I attach materials to weapons/shields?
cause I can't work it out
can't do it through any of the menus or anything
and there's no guide in game I can find
doesn't let me if I hold nothing, nor if I pull out my weapon and press up, nor if I press up while fuse is active...
You need to hold them in the menu, exit out and drop them, then select fuse
It’s convoluted as heck instead of just selecting from the dpad but that’s how I’ve been fusing stuff
whaat
that sucks
you can do it through the menu with arrows just fine, why not weapons
I guess because you have the option to do shields too
While it’s just arrows for.. arrows
yeah but you could just have different buttons
like how it already is if you're doing it with items on the ground
oh well
thank you
I like building little cars and not doing anything with them because I realize that the topography doesn't really lend itself to a car all that well.
In my opinion they’ve essentially hit Metroid Dread level of buttons to push
The ability wheel helps a lot, but they’ve kind of run out of buttons and dedicating buttons for every fusing would only complicate it even more
I’ve done Fusings while taking my time, as well as fusings in the middle of a fight and despite the messy nature of it, because menuing freezes Time it’s gives me a lot of time to decide what i want to do.
They’ve already got overlapping button pushes going on as it is.
Easily one of the weakest aspects of the game so far. It’s so much fun I don’t mind it and Dread taught me a lot about having tons of buttons to push that did things so I’m used to it… but there’s a lot going on with the controller during hectic moments in the game.
Just to shield surf requires three button inputs. I had a similar opinion about BotW and now with all this extra s t u f f it’s even worse lol.
I LOVE throwing items from my inventory. Using all that junk feels really good. I dislike how I have to almost accidentally throw my frickin weapon to make it happen lol
My least favorite part is ||how long it takes before the game truly allows you to "explore", in BOTW as soon as you left the Plateau you had all the tools you needed to go anywhere. Here the game still locks stuff out from you after leaving the sky islands. ||
I do like the wheel, even if it took me a bit to get used to it
much better than the menu
i do wonder what the materials menu is really for outside of fusing
Still getting used to it myself. Can’t count how many times I activate an ability when I wanted to swap.
see my brain is still suck on dpad up is abilities lol
press to use, hold to switch is nice
tho i don't like how the ability activates immediately once you switch to it
Yeah totally get that
especially if you're switching to fuse or recall
also why is one of the wheel slots used up by....the map?? lmao
that's literally just on select
Yeah it makes me not want to switch in preparation lol
Probably to maximize the size of the wheel without using a blank space, or allowing for a quick press of L instead of removing you thumb from the stick? Only reasons I can think of
I’ll be honest I use the map on the wheel more than Minus
Or Select
Whatever you call the buttons
It almost feels like this was designed for a mouse and keyboard setup, but that would be dumb because A.) No Nintendo employee would be stupid enough to map controls to mouse and KB for Nintendo (who doesn't even make games for PC) and B.) I don't think the Switch even has mouse and KB compatibility.
Maybe. But even M+K controls you can just push a button for the map instead of using a wheel lol.
Agreed.
as for M+K for Switch https://knowtechie.com/can-you-use-a-keyboard-and-mouse-with-the-nintendo-switch/ Apparently it does, kind of, technically, if you work at it.
oh the arrow fusing mechanic fucking sucks
or rather
not the mechanic itself
but the menu
oh you want to fire a bomb arrow?
sure just scroll for 30 seconds
Yeah that isn't done super well
you can set it to "most used" and that helps
but it just mitigates the issue rather than solves it
it's also not default so
automatically you'll be dealing with that
I agree with what you said earlier DW
at least I think it was you
same colour
about the approach to the ||Stormwind Ark||
That and the ||Fire Temple|| have been highlights
||Water Temple|| was a little boring
I hate this game sometimes #TearsOfTheKingdom #Zelda #NintendoSwitch
alright
whoever said the Master Sword wass where you'd expect it to be
what the fuck
why would you lie to me like that
I think the inventory button is for sure the weakest part of the gameplay so far. It's extremely cool to have quick access to things in the inventory, but it's... almost the same speed as if you just legit paused the game and dropped it from the inventory there.
Sorting by Most Used is actually useless for me unless I'm using seeds ||for lighting in the Depths||. That's legit the only time Most Used is helpful since I'm throwing that crap every 15 seconds it feels like.
Otherwise the only two sorting options that matter are Type and Zonai
On top of that
Why IN THE HECK can I not sort my Weapon Inventory by damage value???
That's the NUMBER ONE THING most people want to sort by. Idc what TYPE these weapons are fusing them changes their type all the time anyway. So what the heck game wasn't that an option in BotW why did you remove it XD
I am kind of mixed on the weapon fusions as well, it's a neat mechanic but also kind of disappointing when an enemy drops a cool weapon only to find out it's a tooth on a stick.
Oh I love that. This is not me hating the functions I'm just saying the method is a little underbaked. They could have streamlined things a little more I think.
But yeah dude gimme that stick with a mushroom on it why do you have that silly bokoblin
You guys are crazy
I really think they should have consolidated some of the functions, or instead of having a wheel for it make it so some things can be done at dedicated locations.
not everything mind you, like the pickup and attach mechanic should always be there but some stuff.
I used up all my bomb plants on those things.
So would this be the physically oldest link to daate?
because, physically, every other Link has been anywhere from 9-17.
I was finally prepared for the hands (big spoilers for some unlockable story abilities which I had active + the actual hands themselves)
When I fell into one of the ravines, I don't know what I was expecting...||it sure as heck wasn't that I would end up in Mordor.||
I know the truth, all tears collected, and have broken into Korok Forest
And it destroyed me
See that's when you stick the horn of the enemy onto the stick
The legend of Zelda: tears of the fanbase
Unironically
Cooking became a lot more fun once I unlocked cheese as an ingredient
THERE'S CHEESE????
Also how do you get more tomatoes. I got some from Beedle but ran out
...I've gotten a few of the tears but have done Korok Forest, is this gonna hit me like a zonai powered truck when I get all the tears?
hate that the ||Master Sword can still break||
actually just don't like weapon durability
like in general
was passive about it in BotW
but this game feels so much worse
I'm not hesitant to use my strong weapons bc there are just no strong weapons
You just find them ig
There’s quest in hateno village that lets you grow your own crops
If you go to the school there to start quest line
And to unlock cheese as an ingredient you’ll have to start the mayor election quest then talk to the girl overlooking the pond in the hateno farm up the hill
If you want to avoid total spoilers/stay in with memory continuity pull the master sword after you’ve seen all memories
I dmd deemo the list of chronological memories so lmk if anyone wants that too
I've just been doing them as I find them
And I need to keep going because I want to get to Hateno but I'm starting the ||Fire Temple||
....I need more flame proofing
if you want to unlock cheese as a mechanic, on the other hand, you'll need to beat the Ukouh Shrine
Got it

Me with a 71 power spear
You would think that
given the whole
Calamity Ganon thing
||Zelda would be a little more worried about Ganondorf in the memories||
||"I believe that man's heart holds many dark intentions"||
are you... stupid?
Anyway that's a
strange place for the final memory
sure
:/
I'm beginning to suspect this story isn't as fleshed out as I was hoping
still
||Final 'memory' found and there's still missing cutscenes, so content after four main dungeons?||
so Breath of the Wild took alot of inspirations from Princess Mononoke, and i figured that the sequel took those same inspirations but also toss some stuff from Nausicaa
like
aw crap i forgot to spoiler the images
They grow some places. Don't remember where though
the place that has a ton of tomatoes is Kakariko Village
otherwise, theres alot of them scathered around the field areas
Iirc they do grow on sky islands
i found a ton of them in the Great Sky Island yea
absolutely
totk has a ton of similarities to nausicaa
I haven't seen princess mononoke but it seems quite similar to botw
but yeah totk and nausicaa share a ton
especially with the gloom and stuff
and then theres the obvious lol
I think most of BOTW's inspiration was from Castle In The Sky
oh yea Castle in the sky aswell
I think with TotK/Nausicaa the similarities aren't even just on an aesthetic level but like in the world and themes and stuff
it's really cool
don't need a zelda movie just go watch ghibli >:))
yea
why need a Zelda movie if it already exists
which is cool because even if it wasn't direct inspiration they're both reflections of the sort of culture they were made in
if you want to think about stuff like shinto ideas and whatever
At least the gloom isn't slowly spreading while the game progresses
....that I know of
Fun fact: when people compared the end of Nausicaa to the bible and Jesus Miyazaki got so ticked he wrote the end of the manga to be anti-human
Something like that yeah
(i haven't read all of nausicaa yet btw)
watched Mononoke and Nausicaa and i really love those two
I'm 4.5/7 ways through
(i think Mononoke might be my favorite Ghibli movie)
havent seen Castle
tho ik that the robots in that movie inspired the Minecraft Golems
Anti human isn't really the best description but more "humans shouldn't play god" which on one hand he's right but on the other hand the way he goes about it is kinda dark
And also makes me wonder if he didn't quite understand the comparison people were making
But yeah I was looking at the lightroots and immediately went "TOXIC JUNGLE BASEMENT!!!!!!"
Though the lightroots themselves remind me of TP heart containers because they've got the same color scheme
Probably just a coincidence with that one
i thought the depths would have been more toxic jungle
idk i haven't been down there yet
maybe a bit too spooky to be like the toxic jungle
No yeah they're definitely toxic jungle inspired, but demonic instead of toxic
||Gerudo 'approach|| S Tier
The reason I thought of the basement was because--
It was not S tier with only four hearts
Heads up that boss absolutely sucks.
I really like generally how happy the game is (and BotW to an extent) to break mechanics and things
oh I'm talking about the ||protecting the town|| bit
Haven't reached any further yet
ie having heart requirments to proceed, not just have the approach segments to dungeons be straight up battles ect
also including the ||mini-boss that appears on Death Mountain?||
like
that's almost wasted with how easy it is
hmm
I just got to Zora's Domain
what the fuck this is so cool
i still haven't got to rito yet :((
How would you rate that one
so like I say I haven't completed Gerudo yet
But my rankings so far would be
Goron>Gerudo>Rito>Zora
The Rito approach might be as high bc it was my first one and I wasn't expecting this much atmospher
e
Zora isn't bad it just doesn't have as much punch as the others for me
I loved the Rito boss
i shall now vacate the spoiler thread again lol
to avoid
spoilers
(wow)
that's it
ok bye
||Pollution||
that's the mechanic
I've already said that Rito and Zora were just ||Divine Beasts|| without the cool bits
Goron was almost a ||traditional Zelda dungeon|| for me
Gerudo remains to be seen but I really like what it's done so far
What I don't like
is how static the story cutscenes are
they're all the same regardless of the order you do things in
Hope you like the story of how ||Ganon overpowered the original sages|| because you're hearing it 4 times
BotW I think did that better
Went to Kakariko to meet Paya, traveled to Hateno to see if my house still exists, checked how Tarrey Town is doing and then made a trip to Hyrule Castle to get my clothes and my shield.
Time to actually start the game now. First destination: the big storm.
wait wdym clothes
are there other clothes aside from the ones on the sky island
that's a stupid question ofc there are other clothes
but which other clothes did you get
There is clothes in the depths as well
In Benny's instance:||Champions Tunic from BotW||
||Link's Champion's Tunic from BotW||
||There are maps scattered in chests on Sky islands, that lead you to other chests where you can find clothes/armor like the above||
having finished Gerudo now
(that boss was nightmare fuel btw)
I think my order is Goron>Rito>Gerudo>>>>>>>Zora
god why do I have to watch this cutscene again
anyway
are the ||sage|| VAs the ||Champion|| VAs?
Cause I find their whole existence really weird
Why don't we see their faces
why don't they even have names lmao
This is exactly the same cutscene footage btw
with one (1) different shot
ok maybe 2 my b
also I'm beginning to think that maybe this ||Imprisoning War|| isn't the same ||Imprisoning War|| that we've already seen
which is also a v strange decision
like were the ||sages|| a last minute addition?
feels like it
No name, reused VAs, literally not even a face
ah you see this is where the fucky open-world-story-driven objective problems arise
because I've already been there game
and nothing happened
so why will this second visit progress the game hmm?
Considering ||Riju and Yunobo|| are both voiced by the same VAs as the champions, probably
I am all about this new music though
reminds me a bit of how Age of Calamity had three different world map themes
it's hard to express how much i hate the underground. the complete darkness, dangerous enemies, floor that kills you and occasional jumpscares. it's such a hostile environment, but it's so well designed. i'm probably feeling exactly how the developers want me to feel.
"hate" might be the wrong word, i really love the area, but while exploring my brain is constantly screaming "I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE"
i jumped down a hole today and unintentionally spent three hours down there doing nothing in particular, just running around and collecting stuff.
Finished my last ||temple|| and made it to Hateno!!!!
New goal is to find all the memories, then do the shrines
Good luck with the shrines
There’s more than Botw
I don’t know the exact number but my friend did all the shrines just yesterday
His life’s goal
You know, I ended up beating a temple during the last time I played, but..
|| It wasn't any of the 4 main temples, I believe 👁️ ||
I.. really need to figure out how to get more Zonai batteries now, I don't know where to find more Forge Constructs besides the one in the starting area..
I have a crap ton of Zonaite, but not enough charges for the upgraded battery aa
I assumed there were more than ||4|| bc Link's middle finger is still empty
|| yeah, I kinda stumbled upon on it and had that be my 2nd temple lol ||
I completely MISSED the start of the chain after finding the shrine that goes with it lol
It wasn't until someone accidently clued me in on it that I knew something was up
||as for the factory, for a long time up to that point I was trying to figure out what was going on, so it wrapped up two threads at the same time||
As for the main story, I've just been running around and not doing it for awhile lol (I do have Rito and Garudo done)
I did collect all the memories though, including #18
I actually prefer to have the ai take care of it
Wait so you can do ||the fifth temple|| whenever?
Not having to focus on it means you can fight
Yup
#3 for me
||I could have done it as my second if I was paying more attention lol||
Can I ask how you did it
Unless you don’t get the ||fifth ability|| I don’t know how you’d beat the boss there lmao
Doing it the intended way is a loooooooooong process
You mean beating the boss of the || Spirit Temple? ||
There's stuff on the ground to smack the boss around with, with more stuff being dropped over time
|| ie. spiked iron balls at the start, then cannons/shock emitters/fans later on ||
You haven’t gotten the ||fifth ability|| yet right
nop
That specific part of the game felt very linear in terms of story at that point so I didn’t really expect people to beat it early let alone find it
I mean
|| I ended up exploring the Thunderhead Isles early for the heck of it ||
|| Because of that, I stumbled upon the heart door early, didn't have enough hearts at the time, came back after beating enough shrines for it, and.. voila ||
Voice actress says Link and Zelda “are in a relationship” https://t.co/pKN6W04LRq
22744
1405
Water is wet
Ngl
I guess it would feel forced but
There’s so many times in this game where it would’ve made sense for Zelda to at least confess about link
Doesn’t have to be directly to him but still
Apparently the actress said she likes how their relationship is ambiguous, and the article title is misleading
But let's be real they're totally in a relationship after BOTW
Second to maybe Skyward Sword in terms of romance
I like how it’s implied that Zelda and link live together in hateno village (or could only be Zelda living there since there’s only one bed but….)
And then link gets a another house close to tarrey town
finished the rito quest
I guess that explains why this Link is clearly the oldest Link thus far (not counting the 100 year sleep thing)
Since it is obvious it has been at least a year (probably longer) since the events of BOTW.
just a canon and two spike balls do the trick
||spike balls to smack around and canon to instantly knock out of the sky||
Wanted to see if I can build a mono-cycle…
man I love this game
Rescued the ||Lost Woods|| and uh
I assume that wasn't the bonus ||temple|| people were talking about
bc it doesn't seem to actually do anything lmao
underwhelming
Got all the skyview towers and geoglyphs
Now what
How prepared would you all say to be before heading to Hyrule Castle
hi
just so I know where to set my expectations - are the Depths actually like horror game material or are they just a little spookier than average?
I've gone down a bit and all I've really found are harder versions of regular enemies
like are we talking "it's dark and there's some skeletons" or "early botw monster designs" level of scary
depends when you're heading there
||If you've not been told to go there yet then you don't really need to prepare bc there's nothing there||
you know when you're playing botw, just running through a field and suddenly piano music starts playing?
the depths are like an amplified version of that, but nothing actually scary.
sometimes a tree you're running past starts moving, or a slime jumps out of the floor and steals half your hearts, or you're walking through the darkness and suddenly there's a lynel trying to kill you.
ahh
ok
so it's not like actual horror game lol
I saw some people calling it that and was like
there's no way
It's closer to a Metroidvania game than a horror one.
Which you'll get like 500 of easily
When I first fell into the deep dark ||I was looking for a dragon scale that fell somewhere around there. It was actually kind of neat because it was a small source of light illuminating the pitch black.||
||I didn't even know it fell into the hole, I just got hit by some enemy and went tumbling down.||
||Dragons in the dark!||
ok i need someone to explain cause maybe I missed the explanation or it just doesn't tell you
what are zonaite and crystalised zonaite for?
zonaite is for autobuild right? like if you don't have all the parts it'll fill it in for you
with the crystallized version you can get more batteries
regular zonaite ore is used at refineries to trade for cores
you normally find them || underground || at the largest mines but I think there is a tunnel on || Great Sky Island || that has one
does that happen automatically or do you have to talk to someone?
Talk to the ||Sentry outside the Recall Shrine||
I think
There's a few dotted around the place
It might be the one in aforementioned cave
think the one outside ||Lookout Landing|| also does it
"today i'll go to rito village to start the main quest"
*runs around hyrule for several hours*
i did not go to rito village today
OH????
How wonderful of you to say :'))
Hyrule castle itself? Not much just be prepared for a bunch of fights really
||You don’t fight the final boss there + there’s still more to the story after going to hyrule castle||
There’s a shrine behind the sanctum if you need to fast travel there btw
||https://youtu.be/IcQMrLZO884|| slight spoiler for a character design
WHY DID THEY MAKE HER SO BAD????

I went there with 4 hearts so you'll be fine
The enemies scale
Was this before or after beating the temples
Because there’s some story stuff at hyrule castle after the temples so it’s best to be somewhat prepared
Hmm..
I wonder if anyone here's explored much of the || hidden passageways under Hyrule Castle ||
|| I stumbled into there after finding the Horned Statue, feels like I was there for hours just exploring the tunnels aa ||
|| so many weapons broken from breaking the boulders.. ||
||Yeah, I fully explored them||
||I really should have waited until I got the lightning arrow||
||rip all those rock hammer claymores and bomb flower arrows||
|| Aw, does whatever this lightning arrow is help with breaking boulders.. ||
|| oh well ||
||You found the Stalnox, right?||
|| I did find the Stalnox, yeah ||
||Riju's lightning has bomb properties||
||So if you are willing to wait a little you can just fire a ton of normal arrows and break through places||
It's the only way I mine now
You can also use ||Yunobo||
oho..
As a side note, in Hyrule Castle, in the Lockup, did anyone || fight the hands that spawn behind that closed gate, I wonder? ||
I honestly couldn't figure out how to open the gate, but
|| I may have used bomb arrows to still kill the hands lol ||
Tbh most of my exploration of hyrule castle was for story purposes and finding the hylian shield lol
I did explore the passageway though
im missing the knights helmet I will not rest until I find it
I see, I see..
I do wonder if you've fought || Phantom Ganon (or Phantom Ganondorf? I forget) || (mini-boss spoilers) before then..
The hands spawned when I ||got the hylian shield|| but I was at a different level to it so they eventually despawned lmao
I ran out of bomb flowers while fighting the hands trying to get || the Hylian Shield, || but..
|| the bow I got from Phantom Ganon ended up taking care of the hands lmao ||
You can also use Lynel bows or chuchu jellies
Oh yeah the ||phantom ganon bow|| is absolutely busted
If you really want to find some
Go to the coliseum in the depths
Directly under the surface coliseum
Do people miss when Zelda was a lot more music-centric?
I’d still argue ‘modern’ Zelda is very reliant on music callbacks and themes more than most other franchises that are just “Easter egg”
Even if they don’t have a plot centred around an instrument like an ocarina or harp
hi so I found a shrine that you just can't complete??
What shrine
the one on the great plateau
||the one on the west side that's surrounded by cliffs||
I didn't think there were multiple there lol
Is it like
||You have to raise 2 platforms with a couple of sticks?||
If that’s what I think it is
You can cheese that one lol
Gonna make shrine hunting a little less painful lol
Ok well
don't think they playtested much it lol
Cheese it
yeah I can't see any way to cheese it either lol
||raise the bottom platform as much as you can (prop it up with a a stick)||
||ascend through it||
||fuse a stick to the bottom of the top platform to extend your reach, hold up the platform for a bit||
||let it drop, recall the platform then ascend through while it’s in recall||
Oh dang, that makes life a lot easier
Recall -> ascend tech is nuts
||ngl there's nothing quite as satisfying as fighting a boss and being able to just go "you have no legs now"||
oops i did it again.
i'm never going to finish this game.
today i explored some sky islands, fought a very fun boss that tried to kill me with his car, and got a new hand ability.
wtf you can't just post a video of the boss without spoiler tagging it
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was basically complete when the March 2022 delay happened, extra year spent on ensuring physics worked and polishing https://t.co/4fXB8uBntB
1171
138
Ill be real for a sec
Nintendo dodged the fattest bullet with this delay
If they didnt they had to deal with Elden Ring
But also the delay was also justifiable imo cuz
Physics
honestly good for them
I think all the building mechanics and stuff have been so well received because it's so flawless
im sure there are bugs but
if you built a car and it hit a rock and went flying then a lot of people would be singing a different tune rn
Polish will always be better than cutting corners
Finished the bit after you do all four races
||i.e. found Mineral||
Thoughts as of now
||Minueru's construct|| is the clunkiest, worst designed thing I've ever seen in my life
it deals 1 damage
||Spirit Temple|| was cool
liked the boss
wish it laster longer
and did something different in its second phase
Realising now that this ||Imprisoning War|| is not the ||Imprisoning War||
which is a shame but it would've bound the game to a particular timeline I think so fair enough
When they were ||sealing ganon|| it would've been a perfect opportunity to mention the calamity and malice
god I'm begging you to even mention BotW
it's like this game takes place in a parallel universe
oh right but the thing I came here to say
The music in this game is stunning
blows BotW out of the water
sheer variety, cutscene stuff, Lookout Landing evolving as you go to each region, the interlude after the ||Blood Moon||
oh and ||Kogha's|| music slaps too
Headcanon that whenever you find ||kogha he goes on about how Link is his arch-nemmy and their rivalry spans millenia and Link just has absolutely no idea who this guy is||
a la Thanos
I think they improved ||Kogha|| in this game
Lookout Landing evolving

it does!?
i love evolving towns
man i really need to do the main quests lmao
I think so
I only noticed its music after I'd done all four so maybe it doesn't
but the hub certainly does so it wouldn't surprise me if the music does too
so it was the final boss I stumbled across a few days ago
Interesting how the story points you in that direction
Making ||Kogha|| 'required' in that sense
oh those fights are so much better
anyway beating the story tomorrow
or god help me
I cannot waste another week of my life on this
It is kind of funny that Beedle is now one of the eternal souls of Zelda alongside Link, Zelda, Ganon, Impa (kind of), ect.
