Particles are new too the fire looks a lot better.
10 years ago texture and model upgrades would be considered a remake
Well they classified it as a remaster.
Still I never saw what the original looked like.
Comparing the two now the remaster looks really good.
As someone who has played the trilogy and can compare it, the remake does indeed look a lot better
Oh I didn’t know they made Fantasy Life
Anyone else unable to download thr Octo 2 demo?
I can try later but I wanted to keep my fingers of it
In any case, I’m assuming it’s the first 3h of gameplay, locking you to the earlygame areas
looked back through the direct for things that im interested in
Pikmin 4
Samba de Amigo: Party Central
Ghost Trick
We Love Katamari
Etrian Odyssey
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe
Kuru Kuru Kururin looks funky and I love it.
Metroid Prime Remaster
Blanc
Still not been given any big reasons to buy the new Zelda
Like with reading Chainsaw Man, I’m sure there’ll be a few people knocking on ky door if I don’t get Ghost Trick
Ok things I wanna buy which mean I need a source of income
Samba de Amigo: Party Central
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass
Metroid Prime Remastered
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code
PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE NEW WORLD OF STEAM GRAHHHHHH
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I only want pikmin, the splatoon expansion, and Zelda
Time to apply for jobs lmao
So I think I can do it
Holly come work for me
Ik for sure I’m buying the splatoon 3 expansion, but I’m wondering what’s the point of us returning to the original inkopolis map apart from nostalgia? They brought salmon run back to the map, which I mean okay? We have that on the normal map. And as for the possibility of them using old stages on that map, why could they not just do it on the regular splat 3 map? (Not hating or anything I’m still gonna buy it I’m just wondering what’s up w that)
If they’re doing the latter, it seems like a paywall, which is reasonable considering they have to rebuild the stages and optimize them for the new game but I’m hoping there is still something more
seems like its just a lobby skin tbh
which is fine, most of the price for the expansion pass will be for the side story i'm sure
Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass is the most idol thing
Legit paying $20 or whatever to see some idols
The second best idols at that not even the good ones
Would be cool to have the pokemon games on there
Unfortunately gamefreak / tpc exists
NES launched with 20
SNES launched with 21
N64 launched with 9
Genesis launched with 15
GB launched with 9
GBA launched with 6
i'll leave it at that
I have no clue why they thought it was a good idea to launch with so little
Especially bc that leak from last year had over 30 games
I’m still really happy with it knowing whats to come but the lineup rn is not super exciting
glad they thought Alone in the Dark and Gargoyle's Quest were must-haves
also now have three versions of Mario 3 on nso
hm
quick thought is
online with those is a bit harder to pull
since you dont have local play, but a link-cable to so to say
Fair but if you’ve already tested over 30 games
Clearly you’re not going to add all of them at launch
But still
It is not like you have to pay extra or something to use the Gba emulator. Imo it is fine with "only" the games which are out now because this is just extra content for the content which is already out.
I mean paying extra to the already existing costs
The bar was way lower when they announced Nso+ if you ask me
also I reject this point outright
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's JP price was revealed: 7,900 yen
7,900 yen at the current exchange rate is equal to $60.10 USD.
For reference, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 goes for 8,700 yen in JP, about $65 USD.
It is priced at $59.99 in the US.
As to why the west has a price jump despite the game bring no more expensive in Japan, Nintendo says it "decides this on a case by case basis".
https://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-says-its-game-prices-are-determined-on-a-case-by-case-basis-70-not-the-trend-going-forward/
My translation of the non-answer: "because we can haha"
for ref, Wii U VC for gba launched with eight games - Metroid Fusion, M&L, Advance Wars, Kirby Amazing Mirror, Golden Sun, WarioWare, F-Zero and Yoshi's Island
when you're performing worse than the WIi U, something is going very very wrong
This was a leak I wouldn't stake the claim that they really tested 30 games
We've been burned with Nintendo emulation before.
They often just don't play test their own emulators
Nobody can tell me the Wii U VC emulation for the N64 Zeldas was playtested in the slightest
Nor was the OOT for NSO playtested.
mhm
As a major GB fan this is kind of a disappointing launch for the NSO library.
Not only is there little they chose some VERY specific titles
Nobody remembers Kuru Kuru Kururin
there are so few games solely because they knew they could get away with it, and they are
Seems like a Japanese flavored launch tbh
I wonder what Japan gets actually.
Also GBA is locked behind the expansion anyways. 6 games locked behind a higher price point for some people.
Japan got the same GBA games and the same GB games bar AitD which was replaced with smth called Yakuman
they got mario land 2 but not add mario land 1, or have wario land 3, but dont have 1 and 2?, NO WARIO LAND 4? thats his greatest achivement!
Don't get me wrong, this is extremely exciting still. This gives me immense hope of Four Swords being something I can play with people.
But it's a bummer start for sure.
I honestly won't be tapping into the GB NSO for a while due to the lack.
My hype was deflated slightly after a night's sleep.
Besides Metroid Prime is a masterpiece
I think I said something about Super Mario Land 1 before
SML2 is the MUCH popular one plus it looks more like a Super Mario game.
SML is weird as heck
GB NSO is as pathetic as GBA
that doesnt mean it should be neglected tho
It wasn't originally supposed to be a Mario game iirc its development history.
9 games in and they're already scraping the bottom of the barrel
Neglect is a weird word to use here.
tbf it is lol
Nintendo doesn't neglect their legacy content this is OBVIOUS. They'll put it up eventually but the launch titles are an extremely curated bunch.
They chose VERY specific games.
And then Tetris lmao
I've never played tetris before
can't wait
if they ever do GCN on NSO then it'll launch with like 3 games I PROMISE you
GCN on NSO is seeming unlikely.
This is only due to my knowledge of emulation.
The Switch can barely run GCN games on emulators
(I know this because of Uncle Jimtendo of course)
even if it wasnt a mario game early on, it was finished as a Mario game and should be considered as one, despite how weird it may be personally speaking
I mean it's unlike but you never know
I actually don't think Dolphin devs have even gotten their software to work on Switch at all
At least not yet from what I know.
they've put it on xbox :))
One of the arguments I thought was sound on adding new NSO systems is that if the Switch is nearing EoL, why would they release new stuff for it?
So I think the end of the Switch is still pretty far off. 2025+
i mean if it wasnt for Mario Land 1 and 2, we wouldnt have Daisy, Wario ,and everyone else that ended up put in the spinoff series later on
They sure did. The Xbox has been proven to be one of the best emulation machines tho
honestly I can't see the switch closing off for another two or three years
aside from console specs they have zero reason to
I do not agree with this. We definitely know from this direct at the very least that the console has another full year. 2023 - 2024. But NSO stuff has no bearing on the console's lifespan. The NSO stuff can just move to the other console with no other hassle. It's all online.
The NSO stuff runs on an emulator - it is not streamed.
Yeah but the emulator is downloaded through their eShop lol
THey can just bring it to their next system.
Because i do not see them abanonding the Switch ecosystem
In that sense they would have to make the emulator run on the new console
THink of it like the DS line
Which would mean the new console has to support the Switch programming language
But tbh
That sounds likely
I believe it will for sure.
i personally feel like if this is their game plan, then they really did not do it the best that they couldve been, because this lineup is lame with what was given with how picky and choosey it is
honestly I'm with Deemo
don't think they'll drop switch
wouldn't be surprised if it was just what they made now
bare in mind if you count the DS and 3DS as the same line, the DS lasted for 15+ years
In 7 years the Switch has almost become the best selling console of all time from any source.
Almost 7 years
That ain;t going awau
That's literally what I'm arguing against lol. I think the Switch still has many years ahead of it.
Well if you mean the current Switch as is
to be fair, the wii was successful and then they did the wii u later on, history can potentially repeat if they choose to end the switch with totk and couple of other things from 2023/2024, Potentially..
I think it'll go through 2024. Which is two more years. I see an announcement for a Q1 new Switch model launching 2025. Or holiday 2024.
Well they've got games all the way out to August so far.
And no new Mario yet
The new Mario will determine it all
Everything
If there is a new Mario this holiday season the Switch is here to stay until late 2024.
Also this direct showed an INSANE amount of third party support
If there was a new console coming we'd be seeing much less.
I wouldn't even begin to say Switch is ending in 2024 with how fire the last direct was. Consoles that leave in the next year typically see a slow down the year prior. Late 2025 at the earliest IMO.
hold your horses there deemo, what if we are getting our hopes up and they dont have a new mario on the way as a possibility
People would already be developing for a new form of programming
If there is no new Mario this year I think the Switch has one foot out the door lol
I truly believe that.
My guess as to when the Switch 2 comes out is dependent on what the second half of 2023 looks like.
Mario is their flagship
i mean after getting a big cgi movie as the biggest achievement, what is left to go further?
There's just no reason to believe the Switch is leaving us anytime soon after the last Direct IMO
honestly
I full agree DW.
I don't think Mario is that big of a deal anymore
I just don't thjink it'll be longer than 2024.
Mario has literally ascended to Mickey Mouse status and his place has been taken by Zelda
2025 sorry
You said 2025+
If it's later than 2025 WOOF.
Now you're talking a new Xbox/Sony gen of consoles territory.
But then again...
as sad as it is to say it we're going to be going through a major shift in Nintendo these next few years.
i personally would disagree, Mario does still have importance because he is tied with Donkey Kong and Zelda as being nintendo's big hitters
Miyamoto is nearing retirement. Sakurai is already half way out.
Aonuma has maybe one or two more Zelda releases left.
The major players are leaving.
They know that, many of the teams at Nintendo have younger people on them too
Nintendo's future is coming to a big shift.
mhm
Splatoon is notorious for having a younger dev team
those last traces of childhood nintendo will be gone
they will then just be a corporation
like any other, truly
if Furukawa is any indication, i do feel like Nintendo will lose the creative drive they had from the old staff, and the new staff will either be just as creative or be souless corporate
either or
Corporations are soulless by nature and design. They have to be.
You can't have a soul and chase profit.
I think Nintendo knows full well the risk of their big players getting too old and have planned accordingly with younger people
thats called giving up your soul
People think corporations owe some sort of morality. The world runs on capitalism and that is not going to change over night. Corporations are going to continue making decisions that make money over anything
And that is 100% lawful
and what corporations SHOULD do.
Nintendo SHOULD chase making money.
tho tbf miyamoto has basically just been the "ideas guy" for the past decade LMAO
True.
And is apparently a hard boss to work for. But who knows people say stuff all the time.
Reggie likes him enough so I trust Reggie.
Oh and just so we're all clear
hopefully whoever replaces him fully won't be so allergic to narratives
Corporations are like Rome, they werent built in a day, they were built on foundation, and strived for decades, but everything has its end, even corporations arent immune to this once they reach the lates stages of capitalism, and much like how rome collapses and dies, such as the nature of corporations when they eventually hit that point, they died as they lived, being a corporation chasing money
I am not trying to say Switch is going to be getting a new console lmao
Here's a snippet of my Ralf dm's
Yep that was my reaction to the Direct lmao
This was post direct hyped Deemo who was still unconcious on the floor from the MEtroid Prime announcement.
dang Ralf acting like a villain rn
I am always in that arc
I think the biggest crime is Kirby and OCtopath and Metroid Prime all on the same day.
Nintendo is insane.
i dunno the big N has done crazier things before tho
Who let Nintendo cook
You're going to cringe reading this and I do too but...
Considering Switch is likely lasting to 2025+ now, I don't think it's too late for a pro model now.
This is exactly what I am saying but I don't think you understood.
Think of it like the DS line
DS
DS Lite
DSi
They all played the same exact games and had the same ecosystem
Nintendo will follow this model
We are not going away fom "Switch"
It'll just be a different version
We already have Lite and OLED
Oh I see, I thought you meant Switch 2
Next is the DSi
Switch will get a son
Switchi
lmao
Well wait
This is Nintendo
I say 2023 New Nintendo Switch drops for $350
2024*
the DS mentality comparison is interesting to take note of, but i dont believe they will do something like that
if not like that, then something like a switch spinoff
Late 2023 with some big new game like 3d mario or metroid or early 2024 with switch 2 in late 2025-2026
I can totally see that
still
the fact we may be looking at a 8-9 year console span is wild
PS4 Pro was 2016 right?
and ps5 2020
at best i WILL think Switch will end around 2027
a 10 year span for this seems like a good run
Well honestly if they do a pro model they probably could extend the lifespan because people will (mostly) stop complaining on new hardware
I feel like plans changed a lot with chip shortages
I feel like it would have been difficult to prepare a launch of a new console while the shortages were happening
Look at the PS5 launch
I don’t want to talk about it
you say ps5 launch was a disaster but its always been selling faster than ps4 did
Yeah honestly the OLED model was probably just them trying to form something from the remnants of a Pro model
That’s what I’m thinking
could be
Delaying TOTK to perhaps the new console
The original Aula leak (codename for OLED switch) did indeed have beefier specs originally
Haven't got better specs but there's a much better screen and the ethernet port and stuff
and last night makes me confirm new console is bound to next year
and everything minus that was the same
I never believed that they were going to do a Pro model, seems like a waste of RnD (especially since, by this point, there is no meaningful difference between a mid-gen refresh and a new console with backwards compatibility).
New console better be backwards compatible
omg pls
And I think the NSO perks should also transfer day one
honestly if it's not backwards compat then I just won't get it
I barely use my switch nowadays anyways so it just wouldn't be worth it in any way
i would think being backwards compatible is a must have
You really won't get it for new Zelda and Mario?
Just that whole NSO channel transplanted with VC
if it doesnt well i guess they did a missed opportunity
tho like every system since the Wii has had backwards compatibility so idek if that's a question
To be fair, without a second screen I don't know how they would have even done backwards compatibility.
well pretty much every wii u game is on switch now, right?
i dont believe every game is on it
Yesn't
With some shenanigans to get around the dual screen
pretty much
Quite a few are missing
Xenoblade X / Zelda HD / Kirby Rainbow / some other minor ones
oh, Mario Color Splash
WHERE IS NINTENDO LAND 2
Where would you put the disc?
Nintendo Land
i would say a joke on that but my lawyer has advised me not to continue the joke
so uh...
stuff the disc in the switch
The teaser site for “Professor Layton and The New World of steam” is now available.
The first puzzle has already started...?!

@spark bane @alpine sluice
Oh cool
Holly i would like how you feel about the new layton game cause your a fan
I was yelling about it in VC yesterday
And I couldn't concentrate on anything else in the Direct after that
I should watch the TotK trailer again
So true
They dropped Mario Kart right after it and I did not catch a single thing
Other than Birdo
It was just Birdo and new Yoshi's Island track
Yeah I know I’ve seen it now lmao
But in the moment I did not think of anything
Other than Layton
GOD
IT REALLY IS HAPPENING
The whole last section was just banger after banger tbh
Impossible that they wouldn't do this.
Again the DS comparison
Or the Wii/Wii u one
They'll put out the next console even if it isn't a Switch one with the same cartridge style
Nintendo doing a BotW sale
Only 40$ digitally atm if you are interested
DLC is on sale as well
Arlo put out his recap of the direct video and honestly I don't watch Arlo much but his opening statement just really resonates.
Sometimes it's incredibly hard being a Nintendo fan. It really do be that way sometimes. But this Direct... this is why we're Nintendo fans.
Comparing wii u vc to nso is also just pulled by the hair
Wii u vc was horrid for every language that isnt English
Outright horrid.
Oh, this gba game? Yeah we know e.g. German exists, here's the English one only, just for you
Saying you refuse to accept the point of multiplayer is rather ignorant here as well, implementing online multiplayer into a local only is no easy task, not even for emulation devs who are free in every aspect
The test build leaked also shows various settings used in adjusting, so the games do go through some form of testing
Stating some, since we have also had oot, lol
Are you for real? Wii U VC didn’t publish in multiple languages??
As an English speaker I would never have known
I just assumed they launched them regionally
Yeah its highly questionable
Like NSO
It was only English, no
Damn guys I’m so sorry
See what I mean? Sometimes being a Nintendo fan sucks
I think the Wii U era despite many of its strengths came at a hefty cost for most Nintendo fans
Wii U was a fun console, for what it was worth
Including my own parents who never bought the Wii U I had to get my own in college a year before the Switch
But overall im happy with gb(a) online
Gba has some important bangers inside too
Minish cap is in, so four swords became exponentially more likely
GBA is a massive system. In my personal opinion GBA is one of the most important consoles for Nintendo
It lasted like 4 years and had some of the most impressive games
Can imagine licensing will be a bit harsh there
Just like gameboy
Lots and lots of 3p games
Bangers that were mostly nontendo, too
No Batman Returns Gameboy
I'm not saying it's not difficult, I'm saying the framework was already there (see: NES nso, SNEs nso, N64 nso, Genesis nso) and that it shouldn't be an excuse for there being so little effort put into the actual selection of games
You can't compare those jet
Oh yeah Genesis lol
why not
Are all the Sonic games on that?
Nes, snes, etcetc are all local
just Sonic 2 and Spinball
Maybe 3D blast?
You just plug in more controllers to the console
Yeah but the framework for online multiplayer is also there
Its still on the same console. It only shows one singular screen for all
Handhelds dont have that
that's not that big of a leap tho
Handhelds werent on one system, they were on multiple system
it's not like they had to start from scratch with it
Oh is goldeneye a splitscreen online?
Is it??
Jet quite frankly the vast majority of us arent even qualified to make a statement like this
That would be rough lmao
Idk from the little i read here i got confused about the 1 screen. Played some of those games online with others so i mever questioned it before
I didn't say I was but that doesn't mean it should be assumed as some huge impossible task either
sorry about to post a block of dates

I never said it. What I said is that its vastly different to just share one single screen and sync it up to all players involved
you implied it
Or emulate a local, shortrange (50cm) wired connection spanning over multiple systems
This year has a lot of DLC
I really think you're over-emphasising the amount of work they had to put in
and it's still not an excuse for having so little games
the two things are almost entirely unrelated
Hope they leave it at 1 dlc pass per game lmao
The work goes in for most handheld games
All have to work here, not selected ones
So no, they arent unrelated
The processes of adding games and making online work are not connected
plus very few gba games would need that online stuff
False most GBA games have multiplayer elements
One of the biggest selling points of the console
@wind dagger ZELDA CE AT GAMESTOP
Gb to gbc less so, but still a good amount
Only 3/6 games added yesterday need the support
There’s a difference between adding just controllers for 1 screen, which is something said system already supports sort of, and having to emulate the function of a whole ass link cable
And yet all have it by default, since you can play them all in a shared session
If it was really that big of a task then the number of games added should not have been sacrificed
I dont either
Its nothing but a bonus to the service I've been paying anyway
Nintendo doesnt have the fireballs to put GBAvideo on NSO
There’s no buy button
i dare them

The service didnt become worse because the games added on this new addition arent as many ad person x on the Internet wants
I mean if you have no issue with them having 21 SNES games when they introduced that system, but only 6 for GBA, then that's up to you
But I think so many people saying "idk why that's a big issue" is frankly terrifying
At least over half of those were SNES games nobody gave a damn about
The N64 had more - you know, the system that is notoriously difficult to emulate
Yeah what Andi said
Games o plenty dont matter if I play bugsy the rabbits rabbithole adventure 2 & knuckles: math edition
How many of the games you would personally play is not the point
If it were the point then from my pov all of them have 0

Happy for you!
Fastest hand in the west
nice
Still waiting for retailers to add them here
The stars aligned
Quite frankly then why are there so many complaints for a service not used either way
Now to inevitably have my shipment delayed and not be able to play day 1 🙂
It just emphasises the point
Because it's about the principle of it all
if the service launched with 1 game, people would still be happy with it and be going "oh well they can add more in the future and im sure making the online work was very hard :))"
Why does it matter how many games if most or all of them are merely shovelware to the players
does anyone here feel a little bit tired with whats happening with the switch been going on for 6-7 years? because i gotta be brutally honest, as great as things are, im getting freaking tired.
If we get more technical innovations I could easily use the Switch for 6-7 more years
I hope they do a gameboy looking controller
LMAO
It’s such a good concept
Like the nes, snes and n64
They just give you a brick
It'd be so cool tho
Having a mini gameboy with a screen in it
Joycons with only a D-pad on the left and A/B on the right
Lmfaoaooaoa
Wait that would
Kinda work
Ikr? Lmaoo. Imagine if you also had the small screen working hahaha
they did make cardboard for the switch with labo, might as well go all the way and charge you 60 bucks for paper
And for the gba you have the standard blue version. And then the extra fancy flip sp version that costs you 100 bucks more
I didn’t get into Labo but I would’ve liked it I think
It matters because you are paying a lot of money for something they are putting almost no effort into
The Wii U out-performs the Switch in this regard
The Wii U
It matters not because there are so few, not because they were given so little time, and not because nintendo can get away with it - but because so many people let them.
Them only bothering to port 6 20+ year old handheld games and 9 25+ year old games to Switch, six years after the system launched, for a half-arsed online service they are charging you extortionate prices for should be a bigger deal
but it's fine, because Nintendo fans got to see the little purple square thing again
didnt Gabe Newell say something once in an interview of something being a service problem?
But like. What if they did throw out 15 games in the beginning on both. Who would have the time to play them.
Also ofc its that little. They have new games to sell. Like the gb and gba should not overshadow the soon to come out games
It does
Wii U vc for gba had 8 at launch
Chuggaconroy nothing left to live for gag when
It also dismisses all 6 other languages most games released in
No, it doesnt outperform
The wii u needed money. So ofc they threw in more
So many times are awful business practices just passed off because it's Nintendo, and they can add more, and they worked so hard.
Nintendo is a multi billion dollar company and they do not need you to coddle them.
There are so many issues with NSO and this is just another one and it's gonna be forgotten in a few days yet again
Congrats Deemo on grabbing one!
it's not a big deal but it is a fact and no amount of language options can change that
You are paying for a online-play service, jet.
This is what you pay for
You dont pay for nes etc online
if i might add, you dont have to pay it, its not something mandatory, you can just not play it
And even the PS Basic Tier offers more than Nintendo Online
the emulators come as part of the NSO bundle - yes I am paying for them
These are additions to the service you buy for

Andi means that you’re not paying extra for the emulators
^
Like: Nintendo doesn't even offer games monthly, like PS
...which get expanded upon every so often
He’s a little stupid with words sometimes
It's all about perspective isn't it?
you're just paying over twice as much a year for nothing then?
In my opinion NSO is a paid subscription service to play video games online with your friends.
The emulator is just extra bonus.
They are advertised as a core part of the service, to the point where a vastly more expensive tier exists solely for them
The Expansion pass is essentially when you pay for the games
That's why Nintendo being geniuses included DLC for other games with the Expansion Pass
With nso+ you gained immediate access to DLC for 2 bigger hits, animal crossing and mario kart, as well as bonus emulators
That part doesnt exist for just them?
With nso+ you are paying for more than just online services
And honestly: Dunno why they don't offer the expansion pass without online
Is it for Splat as well?
Missed opportunity imo
why is the dlc not bonuses but the emulators are? Or is it because you don't want to see the half-arsed part of the service be criticised?
I could see them adding more
I didnt count sploon 2,since sploon 3 is out
"nono that doesn't count, im not paying for that, it's fine, they put a lot of work into it"
They havent mentioned it yet so we dont know
Alright
This is getting a bit heated
It is likely though
Given that what I write isnt getting read in here, I'll drop out of this discussion
the way i see, NSO's concept of playing together in a subscription service could work on paper, but with how they executed with the way they chose the content and ways of how they handle it with the online and so on, its kinda lackluster in execution. not a bad idea, but the execution is on the weak side.
Disagreement is not the same as being ignored
And it is indeed getting heated, so lets call it off to cool down
After Splatoon 3 moved to the new NPLN servers I gave up the goat and got a one year NSO sub, granted with gold points
They should just say: Hey, if you buy the expansion pass you can play all our DLCs for games with Online at least or sth
I was holding out before then
I am reading your stuff :(
It was about the points in here, glace
This is kinda off topic right about now. This a channel for direct talk not nso discussion.
Also idk if you did but there was a list of releases so i think that be a cool idea to pin it if not done already
If I am being honest I almost canceled my NSO+ sub after seeing OOT
What we do need is for the n64 emulators to be vastly improved
Oh there was a second list idk if we have 2 versions. Thought i just point it out
True imo, gba is not worth until com is added 😎👍
The new one hasn't been pinned yet
CoM who
Wtffff
Not gonna happen
What you are pointing out now is what I mentioned earlier, which got ignored as well. So maybe it is just us lmao
Re chain is on switch (albeit a cloud version) so it’s unlikely they’ll double dip
this
NSO+ isn't a terrible value now IMO
I just want to be able to own a license to play my games
rather than subscribe to them
Wdym double dip
This is like the morbillion time they've put that Mario game they showed yesterday
im someone that prefers owning something tangible that i can hold in my hands, because something like digital just doesnt hit the same
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I don't mind digital and it is sometimes cheaper
but I'm old school and like having a collection
And who knows if they'll close the stores, so you can never re-download it
I haven't check the price of physical Prime Remastered yet
time for it to be more expensive
that too, thats something considered as well
It's 40 here too
(Tbf, with all the day 1 patches and updates even physical games are dead then)
Best Buy lists Prime Reastered at 39.99
Wonder if the Prime Physical Edition will be limited, or more pricy
not on amazon wtf...
honestly I'll probably sell a bunch of the switch games I don't play to buy Prime Remastered and BotW2
it was just announced yesterday give it a week lol
non
And the physical is releasing in like 2 weeks first
maybe I should sell some switch games tbh
only switch games i've sold so far are sonic forces and labo lmao
I sold a lot of my 3DS games when I was too young to have a job to pay for new games
I regret it
I only have a small physical collection but I barely play switch so
would rather sell a bunch to buy what I want than just have games gathering dust
even then, its kinda like...a big gamble here, you get games digital with patches and stuff but you lose that innovative feeling of having something that you have in your hands physically, like you got some kind of achievement by holding the game in your hands, it just is something special that no other way can recapture that feeling, you know?
Fair enough, everyone if different
If it's Nintendo exclusive though I'd make super sure you want to sell it
My father sold all of our Ps2 and ps3 games
As a collector this wounds me.
I'll never forgive that
Let that crap collect dust
ig that lol
i had to sell my PS2 collection and console to charity
i will never forgive my family
but like
so many times in the past I've stopped myself from selling in case I play it again, and then I don't
Your Earthbound cartridges LOOSE are $300 right now
LOOSE.
AND DAMAGED.
Games appreciate so much
Animal Crossing has been gathering dust for 2.5 years now
Espcially Nintendo
Show of hands
Nintendo games that you own and are old are really valuable
Who’s interested in Etrian odyssey hd
I will be buying it
half a hand
I'd rather keep a game I don't play than selling something I bought for 70€ and get like 20€ at most
I mean that's how trading stuff in works
Timing is everything
Ik that's why I don't trade
I beg of you all that if you buy a brand new game that you do not like PLEASE return it asap
Don't sit on it thinking you need to get your money worth
thank you for the xenoblade dunban reference
Just go back to the store and trade it in.
Games bought within the first weeks are 1-1
If you wait 6 months you ain't getting your money back
Be sure to get your receipt 🙂
Important note to eShop buyers to never buy something day 1 unless you KNOW you're going to love it
Until Nintendo gets off their ass and implements a digital return system
eShop buys are permanent.
Oh is that so? I thought that only applies if you have never opened the game
yeah legit never buy something off eShop lmao
even if refunds were possible it'd be horrendous
You are never going to be going back to the store in the first weeks and getting all $60 bac
you can always get the game cheaper elsewhere
They're keeping your tax dollars.
Anyways
It's lunch time at work
Goodbye while I play MP:R
and cry
mario party revengeance?
I'd ask how the cart tastes but there's no cart yet haha
That hurt my collector soul to the ground
anyway apologies for getting heated about gba nso
Anyways
The latest 1st party game release we have right now is Pikmin 4 in late July
versus last year's September
So maybe we could have an e3-but-not Direct
there's a lot they'd need to say
like what's in august, september, october, november, december
DLC dates
3rd party games
so I'm feeling a little better about an e3 direct this year than last year
There will be no E3 direct
much more immersive
E3 Is just E Now
They'll do something in July ish
nah, September
They're just going to ride the high of TOTK all through the summer and let Youtube drops do all the announcing.
I'm curious, but how many of you guys suspect nintendo might put mother 3 on JP GBA NSO?
In japan? very high chance
Anywhere else? nah because they'd need to translate it
Mother 3 can never go overseas officially
I also just realized something
even though they skipped last year they still had a Direct in June
We might be able to get rhythm heaven thanks to NSO Now
The one with Persona 5 / NieR
Specifially the OG GBA Version
Was Mario+Rabbids supposed to get DLC?
yeah it will soon
surprised it wasn't in the direct
Probably just Ubisoft being Ubisoft.
This recording is limited to 30fps
That doesn't mean the game is 30, just that you recorded in 30
is it weird if I say it doesnt feel like 30
I guess all Switch captures are 30fps?
Yeah, the nvidia encoder is set to 30
Screw you encoder
you'd need a capture card to properly record it
how does the game play with dual-analog?
is it better than the wii remote?
that's a stupid question of course it isn't
is it a noticeable downgrade tho?
Meh. It's player choice
It has all the options
You can play dual stick, pointer, OG Tank gamecube controls, or Gyro
Dual Stick feels natural to me as someone who grew up playing Dual Stick FPS shooters on Xbox
So I personally adore it
But the pointer Wiimote control is probably better overall
Gyro? that already makes it sound great
to me
gyro controls for shooters is pretty good yeah
The direct didn't even say it had Wiimote controls
gyro for small movements, stick for big movements
It just said it had "Dual Analog and "classic" controls + more"
Oh vertical
My b
gonna take another look at the trailer and see how the fps feels
Metroid Prime Remastered is available now, only on Nintendo Switch!
Step into the suit of Samus Aran and relive the iconic adventure. Upgrade your gear, swap your visors, and rediscover the uncharted planet of Tallon IV.
https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/metroid-prime-remastered-switch/
#MetroidPrimeRemastered #NintendoSwitch #NintendoD...
people that ive seen playing say its constant 60fps
It's 60 in the trailer. I have no doubt.
"Remaster"
This shit is almost ground up. If the environments didn't still have that classic Gamecube touch I'd not be surprised if Retro just rebuilt the assets.
I heard the rain can be seen flowing off your gun now
Sure does
I think that's how a remaster is done right lol
And flows differently depending on which way you're looking.
not specifically that but that sort of approach
Also the raindrops on your gun are visible when moving out into the rain and into cover.
And when moving into cover they slide off until they're gone
10 years ago remaking textures, models, and other assets would be considered a remake. Nowadays it's a remaster for some reason.
mm, maybe I'll really have to try it
idk why that goalpost moved
I know for a FACT that Samus' gunship is completely remade
It did NOT look like that on GCN
Maybe not completely
But that model is way better.
IMO
Port -> Same game, graphics, resolution.
Remaster -> Same game, graphics, higher resolution /or FPS
Remake -> Same game, remade graphics, higher resolution /or FPS
Reimagining -> New gameplay loop, remade graphics, higher resolution /or fps
ig cause nowadays there are a lot more "from the ground up" remakes
it's less the goalposts have shifted, just definitions have changed
Prime Remastered is fundamentally built on top of the original
I suppose
I just feel like it devalues the work to call a game that remakes most things a remaster
not a fan of it at all
I get that
Ig it's all subjective tho
like by your definition the new RE2 and 3 games are reimaginings, but most people just call them remakes
and Wind Waker HD would be a remake, despite the fact that most people would consider it a remaster, if not just a port
That is how I would consider it, but like you said it's become a pretty subjective thing.
Whenever I mention it I usually just say "x game remake/remaster/whateveryouwannacallit"
But anyways
I heard that MP:R is developed by Retro Studios
That's pretty major
It's got their name on it
I'd love to datamine it and see if anything can be found about it's dev history ngl
so is MP5 and MP6 and MP7 and MP8 and MP9 and MP10 this joke was never funny
new funky mode
it's funny if I tell it
lol
I mean valid criticsm I've seen online is that it's just the first one
But I've been expecting a first MP1 remaster/HD for a while so it's fine with me.
nah i never played prime and for $40 i'm down
I'll buy all three Primes all day
just gotta Get Money first
I've technically already bought MP:R twice 🙂
if they did all three games they'd charge $120 for it
based
Digitally and pre-ordered the physical coming the 24th
To kinda quote Arlo again here
Metroid is a fairly small franchise by most of Nintendo's IP standards
metroid is tiiinnnyyy
I think it's interesting how GC/Wii Zelda "remasters" are 60 and Metroid is 40
i hope Prime sells well
The Nintendo Switch is quickly becoming the number 1 console to play Every single Metroid
We're only missing like 4 games now
i think prime might appeal more the casual players than Dread does
even myself im thinking of getting it
i have never played metroid lmao
i tried super metroid but i got super stuck and left it
Nintendo #1 if only for old tired shulk and dilf rex
that's metroidvania for you
I'll deffo want to get Prime:R eventually
Metroid Prime is actually super friendly to MV haters/dislikers
Plenty of hints and helpful information given. The map is way nicer
or sound like him
brown hair anime boy is obviously rex
wait dw are you /srs
True I wasn't immediately pissed off and yelling SHUT UP so it couldn't be Rex.
I thought it was a Lanz counterpart ngl
"SO TOGETHA THEY'RE LIKE.... ULTRA POWAHFUL?"
i thought it was Reyn at first lmfao
Shut the hell up you stupid boy
deemo you can't say that word
Though tbh I need to look at it again
Sorry. Shut the hell up you boy
deemo you can't say that word
I haven't had to chance to deep dive the trailers
I think holding Pyra and Mythra and standing next to Shulk should be enough
The expansion pass thumbnail thing has all of the blades in it DW lmao
I'm pretty sure they're all there.
no, no deemo in the story dlc trailer, Rex was holding both Pyra and Mythra's swords
what Aelia said
I'm PRETTY SURE I saw the Monado, Pyra blade, and the one from 3 in one of the stills.
Like stabbed into the ground
Yeah
but I was talking about another thing lol
observe
Gosh he still looks like a total dweeb lord.
how DARE monolith making me heart eyes at REX
he looks like his adoptive father figure
no lol the other one
he also sounds like him
he looks like one of the little furry egg things but human
I don't want to sound like a hater but Rex's voice is nails on chalkboard for me.
I would know if Al Weaver was doing his thing
lmao
Vandahm?
Maybe Al had a different direction or didn't pitch his voice to sound like an actual toddler I want to punt into the sun
Kinda like Sonic in Frontiers
hmm looking at it again it's more xc3 vandham and less xc2
i was talking about his older trailer voice
It really doesn't look like Rex at all to me lol
but ig the swords point to that
I love how Aelia is so excited but you know
hasn't uh
you know
finished the damn game.
admire me for not starting fire emblem engage
Won't do it.
until I finish xc3
🥴
see i've already finished the whole game and all the dlc
LISTEN I AM DOING MY BEST
i want to get to as close as 100% as possible because I can't fathom having the time to run the whole thing again with my backlog and everything else going on 😦
there's some missing too
like some of the ones where you finish the quest and then meet them again later to do a similar thing
XC3 is a weird game with the quest to main story ratio
at the very least I enjoy the hero quests
the ascension quests I feel are borderline main story quests
Not weird just over saturated imo
I'll say it again like i've said it before
Nintendo should contract Monolith to make a Xenoblade MMO.
The entire game plays like one anyway
I got to a point where I skipped every side quest cutscenes /dialogue lmao
And XC3 has the most MMO style quest system I've ever seen
Ridiculous amount of fetch quests and kill quests.
Xenoblade X is an MMO without the MMO
mostly
there is some player and player interactions
XC3 is the one that doesn't feel MMO ish with its HUD design
The simple 8 button design for attacks is way nicer.
I think XC3 has a lot less of those
Might be thinking XC on that lmao
XC1 literally has quests that are just "Kill"
Considering I've been playing both
I will say XC3's colony quests are LOADS LOADS LOADS better
Actual NPC development
I love all of the Send Off questlines with emotional tie ins
XC3 colony quests should have been part of the main story
honestly I actually Know NPC Names in this one
IMO
I will never forget the quest in XC in the big lake city
What's it?
Alhaitham?
What's it?
Alhaitham
What quest are you referring to
there's. a lot of those in alcamoth friend
Curly hair
there are a lot
Nah the one quest from the dad that's like I LOST MY KIDS HELP ME
And his kid is literally 4 steps away
I wanted to punch Monolith
How is that a quest you dullards.
yeah xc1 has some dated stuff like that
Wasting my time.
THAT'S that MMO shit
Hot off the press
Do nothing get nothing as reward
More stuff to shove into your bag
World of Warcraft has those kinds of quests patented.
I stopped playing wow in pandaria bc of this mainly
Well and many other reasons lmao
Retro Studios made Metroid Prime Remastered, but Iron Galaxy and others involved https://t.co/3gfFjaCeEN
So not just Retro
hope they dont pull a Sonic 06 and have halve the team work on remastering the games
I'm a bit surprised they didn't even mention MP4.
Like, with Dread they confirmed development was still going on
at least something like that
I think part of what's so amazing about the Metroid Prime Remaster is that at first blush you look at it and think "this looks the same as the original", until you put it up next to the original.
It looks like you remember it looking. That's a 10/10 remaster in my book.
307
109
Dude these comparisons omg
wow
I know I'm hyperbolic 24/7
Serious Deemo moment here
I legit cried launching the game. Actually incredible work from Retro
Only thing that isn't remastered is the music I think
Which is great becuase Prime's OST is perfection
yeah it would be like remastering the BW soundtrack who would do that
Also I've figured it out. Well me and my buddy did
This is what's going to happen
Nintendo is primed with a massive dump of IP video games this year. Firing on all cylinders. With the Mario Movie in April they would be fools not to drop a new Mario game
Only problem is with Mario Kart 8 not going anywhere and Zelda TOTK launching in May... what's their flagship to sell new hardware???
Easy. Mario.
So holiday 2023 is going to be 2D Mario and/or a Donkey Kong game
Mario Galaxy 3 or Odyssey 2 dropping a year from now with Switch 2
and it's going to come like the 3DS
donkey kong game would never push units
Switch 2 has brand new carts but can play Switc hgames.
It's not going to it's the holiday launch
Just the final hurrah for the Switch
I also wonder what features the switch 2 may be able to use
Switch 2 launch title is 3D Mario. Comes with menu themes and that's it
Everyone goes crazy
As I'd assume that'll have a pretty speedy SSD
$500 console
Then maybe that could even tie into the next 3D Mario using it as an advantage 😼
For real though it'll be a bit bulkier. THey might even abandon the mobile style and relegate that to the Switch Lite line of products and make something more homebased.
But I foresee a Steam Deck sized console
I suspect the next Switch will use a custom Tegra Orin (Tegra239) chip
The existence of the NVIDIA Tegra T239 has been more or less confirmed, with Linux kernel support added for the unreleased chipset. Expected to be a customised version of the Tegra T234, the Tegra T329 is rumoured to power a next-generation Nintendo Switch, possibly the Switch Pro or the Switch 2.
you know what i just realized
there were no cloud versions in this Direct
That's semi-significant
Yeah, I had that on my Bingo card and everything.
ROGERSBASE'S FULL REACTION TO THE FIRST NINTENDO DIRECT OF 2023: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM, PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE NEW WORLD OF STEAM, METR...
Wanna see a huge Layton fan react to Layton announcement?
8 seconds · Clipped by Deemo · Original video "Nintendo Direct 2/8/23 Live Reaction and Commentary" by Arlo
On a whim, I decided to watch through the Japanese version of the Direct (sped up for the most part). It's fascinating to compare the two, see what's in one but not the other, note the differences in ordering, and so forth.
I think their rapid-fire sizzle format is a lot better. It actually has voiceover and uses music from the games being presented instead of some random licensed track that makes the lives of anyone making reaction content of the Direct that much more difficult. (I know Tom Fawkes at least had to remove the music and reupload his reaction due to a copyright claim.)
Yeah. I’ve watched a few reactions now and most who uploaded just mute during the sizzle reel
Except for Asmongold who probably doesn’t care at this point
Also, if I were basing my Bingo card off the Japanese version, I'd be able to mark off "JRPG Farming Sim", since Rune Factory 3 Special was shown again. Would almost be able to get "Non-Octopath Squ'eenix JRPG", but I'm pretty sure Paranormasight isn't an RPG. (Neither is Theatrhythm FF, for that matter, as tempting as it is to claim it as such.)
Speaking of RF3S, it's listed in both the Direct and on the JP eShop as releasing on March 2, but the US eShop still lists it as "Spring 2023" with a rating pending. Wonder if there was a localization hitch and they'll end up delaying it.
Don't know why there'd be a localization hitch, if RF3 is already a thing here
Oh
Hey per your conversation from earlier this might be a good reason why games took a while/are less of them. Seems like a lot of work went into the NSO emulator.
https://twitter.com/luigiblood/status/1624005571815899136?s=46&t=JYOHBYcRaHCJEJuziG0EDg
The thread has it in there but mGBA does not pass like this
This test in layman’s terms is designed to test the “hardware” and see how games run. The NSO GBA seems like it runs extremely close to original hardware making it even better than some PC emulators
Oh wow really? That's pretty cool
I saw this post earlier but didn't really know what it meant
Now I do thank you
Does this mean Nintendo wasn’t able to put more games up no not really
But it does tell us that the team required to make the emulator for NSO GBA did a really good job and most likely spent most of their time on the emulator than the games
It's probable for sure
Makes me wonder why the N64 emulator wasn't as good as this one though (at first at least)
i guess emulating 3D games mustve been a bit more difficult of a task compared to 2d games
It's possible
N64 in particular is notoriously hard to emulate. Not sure all of the details myself, but there's something weird about how it handles graphics.
N64 is notoriously difficult to emulate.
