Hi all! A couple of days ago I posted about using Mythic Bastionland’s Sites system to create mini-dungeons for Draw Steel in the subreddit. After posting about it and having some good discussion in the comments, I was feeling inspired, so I threw together a little dungeon using this system. If people like the idea, I might make more of them in the future!
As the title states, the idea is that you should be able to run this dungeonette using just this one page. I’ve skimped a little on some descriptions to make everything fit onto one page, so directors will have to use some imagination in addition to the stuff that’s already there. This is specifically supposed to be a small side quest type thing, for when your players head off in an unexpected direction, and you don’t want there to be nothing there, but also nothing so major that it’ll keep the players going off track. I didn’t actually want to use the Goblin Monarch in this mini-dungeon, but the goblins have such low EV:s that the only way I could get the value up there was to either use the Monarch anyway or just have a buttload of goblins, haha. It doesn’t contain any maps, as the idea is that you might find your own battlemaps to use.
I was a little nervous to post this as I’ve never shared any resources like this before. This thing hasn’t been tested in any way, however, I keep reminding myself that neither had the Delian Tomb when Matt made that video, and it seems to have done all right.
Thoughts? Feedback? What do you folks think about the descriptions of the tests, are they necessary? Should they be shorter (e.g. “<12: Find nothing, bane on next Power Roll”), longer, or perhaps abstracted even more (e.g. “Any hero who investigates the statue must make a Hard Reason or Intuition test.” and then let the Director determine what happens at each tier)? I’ll be excited to hear some input!
