#Universal IR Remote on Zigbee

I've got a Zigbee Universal Remote Control to control my legacy audio gear by IR. I can pair it with my Zigbee network (using a Zigbee USB dongle) but can't understand how to "train" it to learn the devices I want to control. After pairing I just get an on_off control and 2 "diagnostic" entities. I don't know where to go from here.
I am running

  • ITead SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB dongle (flashed with recent firmware).
  • MQTT.org broker add-on
  • Not sure what other config info is relevant.
The tiny "manual" that came with the device tells me to use the Tuya Smart Life app with a Tuya wired Zigbee gateway. I've done that and trained it to control my TV, but I can only control via the Smart Life app. Of course, I want it in HA.
I've also setup the Tuya integration in HA, but that doesn't seem to help. I don't want to rely on the web or Tuya hub anyhow, I just want to use HA with my Zigbee dongle.
    Any pointers would be appreciated.

I'm guessing from your reference to MQTT that you're using Zigbee2MQTT?

I think so, but I can't see Zigbee2MQTT in any of the config. I recall installing it when I set the system up months ago. How can I confirm that is what I'm using? Oh, and I am running on a R Pi with HAOS.

You'd either have it as an add-on, or you're going to have the ZHA (Zigbee) integration listed in the integrations page

I see MQTT in add-ons and no ZHA in "Devices and Integrations", but I do have "Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dong - /dev/serial/by-id/usb-ITead_Sonoff_Zigbee_3.0_USB_Dongle_Plus_02a573480f86ec11912c641719c2d21c-if00-port0, s/n: 02a573480f86ec11912c641719c2d21c - ITead - 10C4:EA60" there.

Not MQTT in add-ons

#

Zigbee2MQTT

No, there is no Zigbee2MQTT in the add-ons page

Well, you're using it or ZHA

#

If you can't find either on your system then you're not using the Zigbee stick and haven't paired it to the dongle

that doesn't seem to add up. I've got a zigbee switch that is working fine. And I'm able to add the IR remote to my zigbee network. They appear as devices under the Sonoff Zigbee card on the "devices and services" page.

Look on the Integrations page

#

Unfortunately until you can work out which you're using it's going to be really hard for people to help you

#

If you're using Zigbee2MQTT those devices will be part of the MQTT integration

Im looking at the integrations tab in the devices and integrations page. Can I send a screenshot?

If you're not they'll be part of the Zigbee/ZHA integration

Those little grey words are the name of the integration

vale spade

Ah, OK, so that's part of the name on the Sonoff card?

#

OK, thanks
