As I understand it, the Blueprint description can be MD, but the input descriptions I can never get anything other than text to stick.

As you saw in the feature request, this is a problem for many. However the point of feature request is to vote up a problem so it gets attention. The comment you added is fine but to make it count you need to vote it up...
