If you run HA in a VM you are running HAOS (or at least that should be what it's supposed to be)

I'm using the vm i downloaded from the home assistant site a year or so ago and it's build on alpine linux, just like the container etc

you are not running the hasos vm but the rpi image, that's different

all HAOS images are build with buildroot

all have journalctl

are you sure you are running HAOS then? 😅
