I have but I don't see where or what to do from there . Thanks for replying I can see it is an old thread
do you see your registered devices in there?
There is a page "device management" under that API list but I don't see anything that could be mine
i did mine via this setup. i already had my devices registered through the smart life app
they were already set up under the Cloud section on the iot.tuya.com site
Ah OK mine says "no projects found create cloud project"
make sure you go through the steps in "Linking a Tuya device with Smart Link"
i can't seem to paste images in this thread...
OK Thanks I am trying the link you sent on a Ubuntu VM as I can't seem to get it to install on Windows I'll let you know how it goes thanks again
sorry one more thing can you see why this is not working? "C:\Users\DR Gooley>python3
Python 3.9.9 (tags/v3.9.9:ccb0e6a, Nov 15 2021, 18:08:50) [MSC v.1929 64 bit (AMD64)] on win32
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
npm i @tuyapi/cli -g
File "<stdin>", line 1
npm i @tuyapi/cli -g

SyntaxError: invalid syntaxnpm i @tuyapi/cli -g"
no idea. i'm using ubuntu and i merely copied the custom_components into my installation, and set up the configuration. what exactly are you trying to do?
The first thing on the github page is to install the CLI tool. I assume it is Linux but I tried in CMD anyway. I have a Linux Mint install I'll try that one
oh i see now... so i used the 2nd option
i dont recall doing all these steps last time... let me check something
ah, i see now. https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/tuya/
i used this approach as i originally used the "built in" tuya support in HA, before discovering localtuya
to use localtuya, all i had to do was go back into iot.tuya.com and invoke an api (within the browser) to get the local_key for each device
OK I'll try again thanks for the info. steep learning curve and many a rabbit hole this isn't it..
it's fun though!
I don't give up easily but I give up I'm so frustrated now its made me angry. I'll just focus on the ESPhome stuff instead but thank you for the help
