#Tuya Stuff

So the device was an outdoor plug. Seemed like one of the only other good options was Kasa and I've never had issues with my couple other Kasa devices.
I know Kasa isn't people's favorite though because they're cloud devices, but I don't really care because they work lol
i thought i read that Kasa recently changed their firmware to make them not work well with HA
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I haven't had any issues
and it works with HA?
Yeah. I have a couple indoor smart plugs as well as a couple light switches. They've worked lawlessly.
got it... so you're using kasa devices, but via the cloud integration?
I guess that's what it is? It's the "TP-Link Kasa Smart" integration.
and it works fine? ugh... i purposely DIDN'T buy those because of that warning on the HA site
I just set up the device in the Kasa app and HA automatically detects it
i just bought 8 new plugs with tuya integration. might return them and try the kasa out instead
Yeah, they work great. I have three indoor outlets (one with power consumption statistics, two without) and two switches. I haven't had any problems with any of them
are they snappy when turned on/off?
Very
One of the switches is triggered by a motion detector for when my pregnant wife has to rush out of bed to the bathroom. The light is always on for her by the time she gets there. And from the app, pressing a button to control stuff is honestly just as fast as my zigbee stuff.
that is awesome stuff
i think i'll pick up a couple of those until i find something truly in-house
which zigbee stuff are you running if you dont mind me asking?
I have two zigbee switches that are GE/Enbrighten and a couple zigbee outlets from IKEA because they were cheap and also act as zigbee repeaters. Those have all been solid. And I have a couple of the aqara buttons as well.
