@icy plaza do you have a multimeter? if you take say K7, can you measure which of the four pins are shorted when switch is not depressed? obviously the one not connected you don't need to measure

Ok, I believe I need a multimeter. I appreciate the time you are taking :). I'll order it and I'll be back as soon as it arrives. It'll take a few days but I'll sure be back. Many thanks aheid!

I'll come every few days to reactive this thread since it will expire after 3 days of inactivity

yeah gonna be hard to modify things without a multimeter, comes in handy in other things too

#

you have a soldering iron and such?

#

actually i just found the switch i think, let me see if i can work this out, but yeah you need a multimeter anyway, since you'd need to measure some voltages and also if debugging you make any mistakes

@icy plaza ok before you got rushing off buying components, the switches here are connected in a matrix which means a simple transistor cannot replace a single switch... there might be a way to use two back-to-back, but yeah it's gonna be a bit trickier

#

i need to double-check but you get the essence of how it's connected

#

this means the polarity across the switches changes, so you need either a back-to-back mosfet per switch or say a reed relay

before I place my order, is there anything else I need to buy besides a multimeter and a soldering iron?

well you'll need some solder, leaded is easiest to work with (just be careful to not inhale fumes and wash hands etc after use)

#

have you checked if there's a maker space or similar in town? in my city there's one and they have all this stuff you can use there

hey, I'm kind of busy right now. I'll be available in 10 days more or less. Should I keep reactivating this thread or should we just open another one?

#

sorry and thanks in advanced, I'll be back for sure. Just need some time
