Hello, I've had these doorbell cameras for ~10 years and I've been thinking of upgrading them to some sort of tablet to run Home Assistant. I've taken one off the wall and wondering if anyone could explain to me if it is possible to convert the cable into some sort of power cable (I believe it's wired to the doorbell). Thanks

Hi, do you already use Home Assistant? Where do you have it installed?
Ubiquiti make a PoE over 2-wire kit.
It outputs 48v/0.6A poe+ over the cable. and 6 core alarm cable (looks like what you have) is rated at 1A so you should be able to run PoE power and Ethernet over it. You could double up on cables to be extra safe.
You could then use a PoE tablet e.g. Video of Examples
or you could use a standard tablet and convert the PoE to USB with an adaptor.
Either way you then have some options to connect it to your HA server.
Have home assistant hosted on a raspberry pi. I just use in my browser currently
thanks so much, I’ll take a look
Aside from the power part to run the tablet, I recommend a cheap Android tablet with the software Fully Kiosk. It's amazing and you can try it for free
I’m assuming I would need a new doorbell?
