With something like that I would personally run Proxmox then HAOS as a VM like you mentioned.
However you could likely run HAOS bare metal too if you wanted to.

That's the confirmation i needed, will do so. Delivery is tomorrow. Hopefully the backup is working and I get Dongles Zigbeee and Matter back running without reconfigure everything.
I dont want to push light buttons anymore. 2 days are enough 😉
