Using a smart switch with no load to read wall switch state

I would like to use a wall switch (in fact a momentary push button) to trigger some automation.

For aesthetics, I want to use the same switch model as my traditional switches.

Therefore my plan was to hook a zigbee smart switch behind it (I have a few ZBMINIR2s laying around), without any load, just mains supply and switch connected to "read" the wall switch state.

Is this the correct way to do it ? or is there a dedicated (zigbee) type of device that could be better used for this purpose ?

I gotta disagree with @violet widget on this one.

The specific device you mention is a no neutral device. Chances are that with no load that you will have problems with this. If you get a neutral using version and have a neutral behind the switch then you will probably be fine though.

Are the chances that it works zero? No... But I think it is closer to zero then it is to working...

However ZBMINI__R__2 has a neutral, the no-neutral one is ZBMINI__L__2
