#Question about grid consumption, multi tariffs and power.

Hey all!
I want to start tracking cost in home assistant and I watched the 3 year old video from mostlychris about setting up a utility meter with all the tariffs applied to that meter then setting those meters up as grid consumers in the energy dashboard. However that was before power became power became part of the dashboard. Now if I use all those new utility meters I lose the total power because power can only be assigned to one entity.

Is there a better way to manage tariffs?

I'll add that I have 8 tariff rates per year that I need to set up.

I think your mixing power and energy.

If you name your power and energy entities properly, it should all become a bit clearer.

@plain wolf That's not what I am confused about, but I think I figured it out. I just have one grid connection with power, but no energy. Then all the different tariffs. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere you can have separate grid connections for energy and power entities in the configuration

#

Before I added tariffs, I had one entry for energy (total_power.Wh) and power in that entity.

The screenshot you shared shows a field for energy at the top and a field for power at the bottom.

I've been trying to sort out something similar. I have in my energy settings under Electricity grid:

Grid Consumption, this includes Site Import (from Tesla integration), Tariff Meter Peak, Off Peak, and Super Off Peak (new tariffs I added).

Return to Grid: Site Export (from Tesla)

Grid Power: Site Power (from Tesla)

but in this set up, site import power works as expected, with setting the costs for import and export scenarios. But the new tariff meters I created continually show 0. Each tariff is associated/linked to the Site import sensor

I have automations set up that are selecting the correct tariffs, but I can't for the life of me figure out why the tariff isn't tracking usage.
