#Zigbee interference

I have a Conbee II stick in my RaspBerry Pi, right next to my stationary PC, and in close proximity to an IKEA TRADFRI Gateway. It appears sometime I loose units and the mesh network goes haywire in ZHA. I am starting to suspect the interference on my Conbee II stick. I have a 1m USB extension for the Conbee II but it is still close to everything. Am I Right to suspet interference with this setup? Can I maybe change the channel on the conbee 2 stick on the 2.4ghz? Looking for suggestions or ideas.

the further away you move the dongle from other sources (usb3.0, other radio equipment) the better. also check your wifi channel and your zigbee channel. Move them apart as much as you can.

#

Another good option would be the buy of a poe zigbee adapter, like the smlight slzb-06 series.

#

Make shure you are using the usb2.0 port first off all..

#

Not perse related, but how did you set-up your dongle in ha? by portID or serialID, choose serialID.

#

Why use ikea hub? put all to dongle 😉

#

if you connect all to dongle AFTER UNPAIRING in ikea gateway, you would have a pure local setup..

#

bit of work but..

#

looks like you have 2 zigbee networks now wich will likely be the main issue here.

#

I would def start with connecting all to conbee and remove the tradfri gateway, no need for it anymore.

What is the difference really between the slzb-06 and the conbee 2?

The dongle is setup with /dev/serial/by-id

I am using the ikea hub for a few set of devices that refuse to work with ZHA. More specifically the IKEA TRADFRI Driver 10w. Without the IKEA gateway it adopts successfully in ZHA but disappears instantly, and is never seen again.

diff between dongle and slzb06 is that the slzb can be powered over ethernet (poe injector or poe switch) and can therefore be placed everywhere where lan cable can run. no interference etc.

By serial is good

It might be because the tradfri and the dongle are fighting over your devices, that will be solved once you unpair devices in tradfri and pair them to dongle.

#

if zha is still mocking about devices, you could try mosquitto/zigbee2mqtt combi. there is more hardware compatible

I only connected the tradfri gateway after ZHA failed. So it was not an issue related to that.

I keep hearing about Z2M, is the migration painful?

#

Give it to me straight, luckily I'm in my startup and only have roughly 20 devices.

Matter of choice.. i would start over with mosquitto/z2m. ZHA is easier to configure, but has less hardware support. choices, choices 🙂 Main thing here is to get rid of the tradfri.

Yeah I dont mind config. Sounds like a weekend project. Thanks for your helpful insights.

np, good luck

@snow flower I started the migration and z2m just feels a lot faster during adoption. However I am seeing the same issue with the IKEA Driver. It adopts, then it appears to go away.

Attached the logs

sounds like signal issue. Keep away from usb3.0 as far as you can. Try to unpair device and re-pair it in location where it should be. If you pair it next to router and move it afterwards, it might loose signal. Maybe also use a zigbee smart plug, they are cheap and act as zigbee repeater.

My bulbs, that are in close vicinity are routers

Perhaps I should look at replacing the conbee 2 all together. I am having issues with my Aqara T1's as well after the migration.

#

@noDNS would you recommend SMLIGHT SLZB-06 over the Conbee II?

#

There's a lot of SLZB devices, like SLZB-06P10. I think I will go for SMLight SLZB-MR1 to future proof myself as well.

wraith laurel
#

I purchased the MR1. The Conbee has served me well for many years. But all eras eventually end

i run the slzb-06 for a year now without issues.

#

in general, the smlights are good.
