As always, depends. I'm not a fan of the pi but what are you hoping to achieve with the hardware change besides avoiding "failures"? A tiny PC is usually a good replacement. You can find some of my suggestions here: https://gist.github.com/Impact123/6ee130240bdc6a7fed2d5224616544a0
I have some thoughts on the subject here: https://gist.github.com/MichaelMKKelly/7a7bfed8610491a2c93acb44a2400866
Home assistant is the center point for my entire home automation platform. Any echo or Google home that I've got gets its devices from there. So it needs to be strong enough to handle all the automations in the house without overheating or dying. Since I'm not really sure what new stuff they're going to put on in the future, it needs to have enough CPU and memory that it can handle whatever is going to be thrown out in the near future.
The green should be supported for a while and your new PC is likely much faster. I'd look for a deal on eBay for a used Tiny PC as mentioned in the link.
what are your thoughts on thin clients? im thinking of picking one up from ebay under 40$ usd to start my ha journey
In general I don't recommend them but you can link me one and I tell you more.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/195399316323 something like this?

16G is too little. GX-415GA is too slow. See this from my link: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/4297vs6054vs6672vs5157vs6304/BCM2711-vs-BCM2712-vs-Broadcom-BCM2712-vs-Intel-N100-vs-Intel-N150
Then compare with what you linked: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+GX-415GA+SOC&id=2081
The storage situation of it is bad too. Not recommended.
which other thin client do you recommend? I am not planning on spending much but I am upgrading the storage of it.
