#Is Reolink completely local?

I cant speak to if it sends data in the background... but i did pull my internet connection and it still works and is viewable in the app on a phone on local wifi. I will have to look at the router log to see if its phoning home.
I see a "Lets Encrypt" app that has downloaded 32KB and uploaded 9.16KB in the last day from the reolink hub... not real sure what that is but I have viewed the cameras several times. hope that helps.
Lets Encrypt provides SSL certificates, probably just updating root CAs.
I also disabled WAN access to my reolink hub and it seems to work OK for very basic use so far.
I got it because of the local control in particular
Reolink have a UID feature in their products. It’s basically the gateway into a device from the internet. Presumably something a bit like STUN. On the non battery doorbells you can disable this with the web UI. (Some stuff is not in the app annoyingly). Without it you obviously can’t see the camera with the app unless your on the LAN. Also notifications from the app will be not work if you use them. I think that’s about it. Of course you should block access as well if you care about such things. I’ve had one of my cameras blocked by MAC at my router for months with only the expected negatives. The doorbell is allowed out only because the speaker phone while I’m not at home feature is occasionally useful and that doesn’t work through HA. And yeah the local support is why I went with Reolink. Plus they are fine cameras of course.
