Hello guys, i'm trying to use my new devices and ZBT2 since yesterday and i can't get it working.. Driving me a little crazy and i don't know what to look for :

  • Installed OTBR/matter as indicated in any tutorial
  • Added the key in the companion app
  • Tried to uninstall/reinstall otbr and matter
  • Even tried a fresh installation of home assistant (haos was on a proxmox vm on the raspberry pi, and i thought it was the problem, now it's haos directly on the raspberry pi) (i still used my backup though)
  • It seems either module don't do anything, at least i don't get anything on the logs when i try to add the device

But every time i get "Home couldn't connect to device", either witht he app companion or when i try to add it with the matter pin on the end device

Spec: Raspberry pi 4b with haos
Device: Tried grillplat & timmeflotte, both from ikea

Chatgpt didn't help much either tho, and i'm not sure where else i can find info/logs

Can someone help me ? Thanks by advance

otbr log looks perfectly fine. what is your local network like? are you using vlans?

#

for adding a device, your phone needs to be on the same network link as the thread border router, so it can resolve mdns queries answered by the thread border, and receive ipv6 router announcements that let it route traffic to the thread devices.

#

if you're using an android phone, enabling the "Beta" option on the OTBR app may help, because it switches to a different mDNS implementation with better compatibility.

Re everyone !
Okay, so i don't have an android at hand but a iPhone... And while at my wit end i tried to use the beta version of matter (not otbr)... And it worked !
I can now enroll all the devices, and after a few tests everything seems to work really well, thanks ❤️

For the futur people who land on this issue, you can enable Beta version in home assistant by going to Settings > Apps > Matter > Use the latest beta version, then restart the module

That's said, i'm not sure why the beta version of mater did fix the issue 👀
For post mortem informations : I have a very basic network configuration (no vlan, the isp router and an unmanaged switch)
