Hi there,
I figured I would check out the discord before I submit a ticket on nabucasa.com:

I recently received the Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition (HAVPE) from my wife as a birthday gift. I've followed the instructions on the nabucasa website to get it set up.

  1. I plug in the device, my home assistant instance (HA) detects it. I connect to wifi. My HAVPE setup wizard starts and prompts me to update the device. During this phase I see the device available under "ESPHome" in my Devices and Services with the ability to toggle the LED ring, mic, change the wake word, etc. HOWEVER: to finish the setup the HAVPE wizard tells me I need to update the device and process to install the update. The wizard then says that the HAVPE must restart. Once it does, the wizard is locked on "Device Restarting" and never does anything. If I navigate to my home assistant devices and services under "ESPHome" I see "Home Assistant Voice 0ab45b" but it is listed as unavailable. I restart the device and it does nothing to get it past the restart stage.
  2. I've done some research online and havent found solutions online but I saw that I could manually update the firmware. I've done this and upgraded to v25.12.4 and when Home Assistant detects my HAVPE, I get the wifi connection wizard and then it just connects to "ESPHome" in my Devices and Services tab with "Home Assistant Voice 0ab45b" but it is listed as no devices or entities and I cannot access any settings.

I am completely stumped. Any help would be appreciated!

If it helps any: I am running Home Assistant via docker on a Raspberry Pi 5.
I have the Home Assistant Companion App on Android.

did you put the voicepe on a 2.4ghz band only? and are voicepe and ha running in same (v)lan?

ok, so 2.4 only, thats good. updated firmware with posted link? Have you tried to do a "clean build files" and what about vlan?

  1. Yes, updated with posted link.
  2. I have not, unfamiliar with the procedure for that. I've factory reset the device and then updated firmware if that's what you mean.
  3. Devices running in same vlan.

should be ok. 2 things come to my mind, maybe 3.

#

1 it could be a mDNS issue ...2 could be an encryption key error or 3 something dhcp ip related.

#

for 1 you can check internal network/multicast is running fine. for 2 check the api encryption key. for 3 try to give device a static lease / reservation in router.
Maybe add this to your config yaml in esphome device and install:

#

this will set encryption key, set static ip and enable mdns. enter correct encryption key and ip addresses.

#

Oh, before i forget, there is a slight issue atm with the wake word detection. For a temp fix add this also to device yaml:

#

if its still not working, try to delete device in ha and restart. otherwise grab as much logs you can get and post them.

Thanks again, I'll look into these and get back

There seems to be an issue with Home Assistant running in a container vs Home Assistant OS. I installed HAOS on an old mini PC and my voice preview is detected and works
