Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Iโ€™m currently looking to replace my Google Nest Wifi setup and would love some community feedback. My current system is hitting its limits and I need something more robust and "HA-friendly."

My Current Pain Points:

  • Device Density: I have around 30+ Wi-Fi devices (mostly IoT), and the Nest router is clearly struggling to manage the load.
  • Lack of Visibility: No fine-grained API to monitor network traffic or device status within Home Assistant.
  • Physical Obstacles: I have very thick walls. Wireless mesh nodes aren't cutting it for the furthest parts of the house.

My Ideal Requirements:

  • Topology: 1 Main Router + 2 Mesh/Access Points.
  • Ethernet Backhaul: I have RJ45 wiring in my walls. I need the additional nodes to use a wired backbone for maximum stability through thick walls while maintaining seamless roaming (SSID).
  • HA Integration: Deep integration is a must (device tracking, signal strength monitoring, perhaps even PoE control).
  • Local Control: Ideally, something that doesn't rely 100% on a cloud account. But I'm open to simple cloud control (like Google Nest)

Current Options I'm Considering:

  • Ubiquiti UniFi: (e.g., Cloud Gateway Ultra + U6 Mesh/Pro). Seems to be the gold standard for HA integration.
  • TP-Link Omada: (e.g., ER605 + EAP series). Often cited as a great value alternative to UniFi.

What would you recommend?

Thanks for your help! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ“ก

I have a full Unifi setup. Can't go wrong with them.

Unifi was easy to integrate with HA.

Also, off topic a bit I would recommend considering the Cloud Gateway Fibre if you want to future proof

And U6 Pro XG is also a small uplift with some reasonable improvements over U6 Pro
