#Aqara FP300 connected via Z2M will randomly stop responding/sending updates

Hi,

I have an Aqara FP300 and it seems to randomly stop responding/sending updates through z2m sometimes. I have a Hue Tap Dial Switch also connected to z2m and it works perfectly.

But the z2m stops showing anything related to the FP300 in it’s “Recent activity” section and won’t let me change any settings when this happens. It did give an error message but I forgot to to copy it last time it happened. So I’ll have to try and get that next time it occurs. But when the issue does occur then as soon as I press the button on the fp300 it starts working with z2m again. So trying to figure out why it’s doing this because at the moment a presence sensor that stops sending data is pointless lol.

Z2M shows the FP300 with an LQI of 212. The coordinator I’m using is an SMLight SLZB-Ultima 3 and is in the same room as the FP300. It’s connected to my UGREEN DXP 4800 Plus that runs the HA OS VM over Ethernet networking.

Also I should add I previously had the FP300 connected to an Aqara M2 Hub and this issue never occurred with that.

Another thing I just wanted to add is that I’m currently running Z2M as a Home Assistant app. Would running it separately in Docker rather than the HA app on my HA VM potentially work better?

The issue just re-occurred and here is the errors that I got when trying to change a setting

Still hoping for some help with this

Hey, still trying to figure this out. But wanted to add one thing I’ve noticed since sending this and the messages I sent following that original message.

I’m zigbee2mqtt’s description for the FP300’s PIR sensor it states that once the mmWave sensor detects presence that the PIR sensor will turn off.

But what I’ve noticed for mine is that the PIR sensor doesn’t turn off despite mmWave detecting presence. It’s on 100% of the time that the mmWave sensor is also on. Only when there is no presence (or when it falsely detects no presence) in the room then both the mmWave and PIR turn off. PIR does detect me before the mmWave does which makes sense. But they are always both on when presence is in the room.

I have no idea if that relates to my original issue or not. But any help would still be appreciated cause I’ve been pulling my hair out for over month trying to figure out the issue.

# solid scarab Well if it's firmware then I hope they update it soon lol. But I'm not sure if t...

I’ve been holding off on opening a ticket because, honestly, I’ve got 12 of these running and they work great overall. The only hiccup I see occasionally is one not triggering off, which is probably exactly what you mentioned with the PIR not resetting properly.

I just don’t have the same level of visibility in ZHA to confirm that, so I’m not sure it’s something I can consistently reproduce over time—which is why I haven’t pushed it further yet.

At the end of the day, I’m still really happy with how they perform… I’m just being a bit of a perfectionist about it 😄

Actually, I was incorrect (I just realized) I have mine setup via thread. ZHA does not get everything that Z2M does so that would not help you out. Without a custom quirk it doesn’t even get presence. One thing you might try is if you have one that is reliably unreliable then try flashing it to thread in the Aqara app then reflashing it to Zigbee.
