#Which thread border router should I get?

Hi!

Currently I'm running a SLZB-06M and zigbee is working fine. As I'm in Serbia the only way to get good-quality iot lighting without breaking a buck is from IKEA. They've removing their Zigbee lightbulbs and replacing them with matter over thread.

Now the question is, which thread border router should I get? I can get the IKEA one that does support Zigbee+Thread (I think) or should I get another SLZB and just run it in thread mode?

The SLZB would cost me 50 eur and the IKEA one would be 80 eur. So even if the price is a little bit higher I would buy it (even if it makes my old SLZB redundant).

I'm in an apartment and my homelab is pretty much in a closet, so if I opt in for the SLZB I would have both of them a few centimeters from eachother.

Oh? That'd be cool. In that case I'll just get one bulb and see whether it works with zigbee?

So far, two product lines stand out. The Kajplats smart bulbs, which replace the older TRÅDFRI bulbs, can join either Matter or Zigbee, depending on how you reset them.

Power cycling a bulb six times puts it into Matter pairing mode. Power cycling it twelve times switches it into Zigbee pairing mode.

But let's say hypothetically they don't. What's the experience with DIRIGERA for both zigbee/thread?

Oke! I thought that matte rwas a different freq than zigbee (just checked it, they're both @ 2.4GHz)

The ZBT-2 is also great for use for either zigbee or thread and supports the project.

Ikea devices are matter-over-thread but matter can run on other network types too.

I'll see to get ZBT-M2 maybe but I'm not a part of the EU so the import might hit me HARD

To be honest, If you have a working zigbee setup then try getting a bulb and doing the restart 12 times thing to see if you can get it into zigbee pairing mode. If it works then you can just call it a day.
