I’m wanted to get my brother a starter kit for HAOS. He has used Amazon products in the past, and has basically sworn off cloud-based home automation products. I don’t want to spend a fortune, and he doesn’t want to mess with setting up a new project. I just went to look at a RPi 5, but man those have shot up in price! Also not looking for a big desktop system, something around $100 and sips power. If he wants more power in the future, that’s on him.
#Good starter hardware?

A hardware recommendation is welcome, but I’m looking more for what kinds of hardware works well. Are there any other SBCs that would work well for HAOS? Like an odroid?
How much RAM would be recommended? Drive space? CPU?
Would be for a gift.
Prices have gone way up but that's the case for all options. Keeping in mind your other needs the HA Green is probably the easiest, quickest and simplest way to go. Plug it in, turn it on and sign in. /Done

Hmm. Haven’t heard of the green model.
A Green. Specially as a gift.
Looks good. A bit expensive, but it might work out. Heh, maybe I’ll throw in the Konnected BlaQ I just bought and can’t use.
My Chamberlain opener is too new. I thought it had a yellow button, but it was the lighting in my garage. It’s actually a white learn button. I’m off topic now though.
Thanks for the help everyone.
