#Smart local only wi-fi lightbulb recommendations

I tend to lean towards ESPHome personally. Plus these bulbs are newer versions that come with an ESP32-C3 in them so you get the bonus BT proxy by using ESPHome. 🙂
that is an older version. I would reccomend looking for stuff with an esp32-c3 instead of the older stuff.
If you want to buy from AE then look up athom sells there on there under the name IoTorerohttps://iotorero.aliexpress.com/store/1104532047
specifically - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008638461718.html
Yeah they come from the same place. There was a name issue with the name athom clashing with another company so they changed to iotorero but their old website didnt change.
No worries, I have a few things from them and it has all been solid. They have a bunch of smartplug options for various socket types around the world and also having the no-relay option is really handy for some use cases.
Have you considered Tuya cloud cutter?
Easier to buy something that is opensource friendly to begin with instead of buying the wrong thing and trying to hack it.
Yeah that’s true too, but I guess I love tinkering with things
So it's an opensource project that allows you to turn Tuya (shitty cloud) products into ESPHome devices (local and works great with HA). It works for all kinds of products as long as they run off ESP chips which most Tuya products are.
Avoid Tuya if you can, except for ZigBee devices
He’s looking for WiFi
It's a general piece of advice 😉
Shelly has e27 and gu10 lights.
In General the shelly Integration is great and all their stuff is local, including first setup.
The bulbs themselves i didnt try yet, getting mine hopefully by the end of the week
ooo, An opportunity for me to self promote a project... Those bulbs are great but what if you prefer ESPHome to Tasmota?.... Check out my repo HERE.
I would prefer to have them flashed with esphome. I tried to reflash one a long time ago - no idea if it was using your repo... However I bricked the bulb, don't remember why/how. I think it had something to do with the limited flash size
My project is pretty new. There was some older ones but they were a bit outdated and have issues. I use this firmware myself on multiple devices and It is pretty stable.
I made it after recent changes in ESPHome making stuff a lot more optimised on the older more limited chips.
What about WiZ, not sure if it meet’s requirements, but connects happily over Wi-Fi and good integration with HA https://www.wizconnected.com/en-gb/p/filament-bulb-filament-clear-60-w-a60-e27/8720169076037
The WiZ A60 filament ultra-efficient smart bulb is the most energy-efficient smart bulb in the WiZ ecosystem. This A-class rated smart light bulb consumes 40% less energy than standard LED and connected LED light bulbs. With SpaceSense, two or more bulbs can act as motion sensors, automatically turning on when you’re present in a room and off ...
if the requirement were just a "local only wifi bulb", wiz should be fine, but the original request was for a bulb that uses an "open source protocol like esp home/tasmota" which limits things quite a bit :)
The old one (duo rgbw) definitely does.
The new multicolor they only specify a "white mode" but not explicitly rgbw, so not too sure.

Ok, just got mine, they are rgbcct.
