Hi All, I'm trying to switch my current irrigation controller (Orbit B-Hyve WT25G2H: https://www.orbitonline.com/products/b-hyve-smart-indoor-outdoor-irrigation-controller) which is a somewhat good with something that works better with Home Assistant.

I've been thinking about building something with ESPHome using relays, but with the increase of prices of everything, I feel like it could be best to buy something good like Yardian or OpenSprinkler.

Please note that my main objective is to get a solid system that works well with Home Assistant AND not need to replace valves or other system components.

Do you have any suggestions of good off the shelf products, or if you have any experience with building a solid DIY system for a good price. Thank you!

I replaced a B-Hyve with open sprinkler. There is an integration and a card in HACS that supports it. The UI cards leave a lot to be desired, but setting up automations isn't hard.

direct swap, 24VAC is very common for irrigation valves
