Hello,
I am incredabily frustrated with Matter and Thread. This is my first time dealing with it and learning and I MUCH prefer Zigbee. I have however spent too much money on Matter devices now to stop.

I have a Skyconnect USB device which I purchased on the pretenses at the time that it can handle both Zigbee and Thread at the same time. Now I'm learning this isn't the case so I've purchased another Zigbee stick. I have flashed the Skyconnect device with the OpenThread firmware and plugged it back into my hardware.

I've installed OpenThread Border Router, selected the USB device.
Installed the Matter addon.

Opened the App on my Phone and I've tried to add a Ikea MYGGBETT Door sensor.
Every single time It tells me I need a Thread Border router... which I believe is the whole point of the Addon.

I've watched countless Youtube videos and I've searched through Reddit. I've now implamented IPV6 into my home network from what I've been reccomened. I'm still unsure why I would need to do this if I have the USB dongle for the connection????

I am really struggling to understand the actual purpose of Thread and Matter. I feel like Zigbee worked absolutely fine. I'm not seeing any benefit from Thread and Matter, it just seems over engineered and over complicated.

If anyone could help and even explain the benefits, I would be very grateful.

I've managed to 1 single device paired. Created an automation. Then the sensor has disconnected.

Now I can't add another device again......

Couple questions.
Android or iPhone?
Have you synced thread credentials to your phone used to onboard the devices with the HA companion app?
Doing multiadmin with apple home, Google, smart things or Alexa already in place?
Have you switched to the OTBR beta and updated the zbt-1 (skyconnect) to the latest firmware?
Would also switch to the Matter Server Beta. The stable release is EOL, with no further real support.

HA in a weird place where dev on the OTBR and Matter server went relatively slow for years. A recent (9 months or more) push on both have us with betas of each that are more functional and robust than the stable releases.
