i'm probably late to the party. could use some help, please and thanks.

  1. how do i pin the module to the sidebar? seems like it should be the most obvious option under settings?

  2. where are the names of devices? it's useless to know that i have 8 zen32's without names, do i really need to cross reference node numbers every time i need to identify a device? brutal.

go to the app/addon and open the web ui

#

there are giant buttons to do both points 1 and 2 on the app/addon page

AH, i was looking inside the web ui, thank you for the sidebar help. What about the friendly names showing in the giant table?

mortal tiger
#

What friendly names?

#

this is a separate software

#

it sends friendly names to HA not the other way around

ember osprey
#

the names i have assigned all my devices

mortal tiger
#

that you assigned in HA?

ember osprey
#

yes

mortal tiger
#

Yes, that's a separate software

#

the app is ZwaveJS, it sends names to HA

#

not the other way around

ember osprey
#

not before this existed, what about people who had zwave networks before this change?

mortal tiger
#

nothing changed...

ember osprey
#

how do i know which device is which?

mortal tiger
#

all that's happening now is that you get to view the devices as they are in zstick

ember osprey
#

sure, i like the progression but how do i solve seeing the names?

mortal tiger
#

You can't, they aren't named.

#

This is a separate software

#

you never named the devices in your zstick

#

you only named the devices in HA

#

the software does not know about your names

ember osprey
#

i understand, so does naming them in the UI override HA?

mortal tiger
#

there is no interface that sends the HA device names to the other software

ember osprey
#

i dont mind if that becomes the place i should be naming things, i just dont want to manage two sets of names

mortal tiger
#

I believe there's an option to send the info over when you rename each node

#

And location should also set area if it exists

ember osprey
#

this is all very interesting. thank you for the clarification. is the exclusion mode by device now, or can i enable it for all of zwave and trigger an exclusion on a device?

mortal tiger
#

Not following you

#

if I recall correctly, exclusion has always been a network wide function, never single device based

ember osprey
#

ok i got that resolved, i see the node management options. thats kind of nice. so the name is whatever i want, that goes to HA. But the location? it's not showing me known locations? So I have to make sure i get the syntax perfect, for like "Basement" otherwise it would make a new room like "basement"?

#

yeah that didnt work. i named it in the UI, and gave it a location. but it shows up in HA as a default values for name and no location.

#

so i learned that you need to PRE-populate the name and location before inclusion, that info is only sent one time at creation, cannot be done after the fact.

It will update in HA after inclusion if you haven't changed it in HA, requires an integration reload

That will be a great feature
