I am having an issue where sometimes the mode does not change when I press the physical mode button on the thermostat. It shows Heating but Off and its supposed to show Heating and the target temperature and the fire icon is supposed to be orange. Here are the two screen shots. To get the second screen shot I went into the app to move it to the fire icon.

At this point, I am trying find someone that knows what Z-Wave commands it is supposed to send to the HA hub that would properly change the mode to the second image as the first image shows the that HA does not update properly. I am looking for someone that can run zwave js ui debug on their thermostat that works properly so I can compare to mine.

For some context, it looks like the Thermostat Operating State report is sometimes either not sent by the device or not received.
I proposed this automation to work around it by polling the operating state when the fan state is updated by the device (this seems more reliable), but I'm not sure how to poll a specific value ID using HA automations.

Having no issues here, took that video without touching the thermostat in probably 6 months

@harsh pilot can you try it with the app on the phone swiped closed to force quit it, then change the mode on the T6, open the closed HA app and see if the mode updated?

I know but close it by swiping up to force close the app, press the button on the T6 to change the mode, open the app to see if the mode on the app matches the mode on the T6.

Sometimes when I press the T6 Mode button it updates the mode correctly and sometimes it doesn’t. Most often it doesn’t update the mode the first time when the app has been closed on the iPhone. Once the app has been launched it works every time.

are you sure you're not just being bitten by a caching issue? You do realize that the frontend is a webpage and you need to refesh it sometimes

#

like, if leave the app open and go to something else, you typically need to refresh the page when you come back by swiping down.

#

it should automatically attempt to load

#

anyways, I'm home now so I'll take video

It's already been established in other support threads that HA is not involved in the problem

#

Actually literally in this thread too

It's inefficient

#

but it would work

#

The Zniffer route is the only way to prove that the device is sending a command (or not) and Z-Wave JS (not HA) is not seeing it. I don't know what your timezone is but Al is in EU so any assistance there would probably have delays, in short you'll have to have some patience. You can also start a dedicated thread in the Z-Wave JS Discord if you want something more conversational than GitHub discussions.
