#How to switch from HA Docker to HA OS
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
You can't just upgrade. You need to flash HAOS to the device and restore. Note that addons are just docker containers. You can create whatever you want. What hardware do you have?
Are you refering to the Asus laptop HA is running on?
Yep.
Its a X555l
Just 2G of RAM?
I just bought a Zigbee 2mqtt dongle and it stated I needed to go to Add ons to load software,
Bought from Amazon Zigbee 3.0 USB dongle dual chip
The QR code took me to a PDF file that said to go to the HA Add ons page and click Zigbee 2MQTT
I would have recommended a ethernet based one so you don't beed to connect it physically. But what did it say about needing an addon? The Z2M docker container will work fine.
Ah, so just generic instructions. No. Not needed.
What do I need to do to get Zigbee started?
I recommend the compose from here: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/installation/02_docker.html
I need the specific dongle model to tell you the driver.
GW70-MQTT
zstack.
What is Docker and what are Containers?
That's not something that makes sense for me to explain on a phone when there are so many good articles already. I thought you were familiar with it already since you run HA as a container.
I didn't realiuze there were so many flavers of HA .
Just two. HAOS runs HA as a docker container too 🙂
If I want to switch over to HA OS will I lose the configuration I starts so far?
I have not got to far along in it yet.
Unlikely.
Do I need to delete the HA running on my laptop?
Like I saidy you need to flash HAOS to the device. That will replace everything on it. Or at least on the main drive.
Create and download a backup before doing that. But as said, I wouldn't. Especially with less powerful hardware. You only have 2G RAM, right?
Now that it is running HA how do I check for specs?
Google sais I should have at least 4 Gb ram
For RAM check Settings > System > Hardware.
6 GB
That is sufficient for HAOS 🙂
I just noticed we are in a totally wrong channel for this discussion.
I've been looking at the built in Apps in my HA
I've downloaded HA OS 3 times and I cannot get the Add on's tab to show up. What am I missing?
