I’m having a lot of trouble searching around and trying to find what I need.
Essentially, I have a fan and light that are controlled from one single switch. I think the previous owners would just flipped the switch on and then control the fan and light with the pull chains.
I’ve gotten a new fan and installed an inovelli fan controller so that I can independently control the fan and lights via home assistant . I love it and it’s got pretty much all the features I could ever want.
However, this means the light switch needs to be left on all the time to provide permanent power to this fan controller. But I’d still like to control it from the wall!
So essentially, I’m looking for a piece of hardware that will let me do that. My dumb solution would be to permanently wire the the fixture on, and then just stick a pico remote over top of it. But I’d hate to use batteries when I’m literally in an electrical box with live wires.
So, yeah, just to summarize. I’m looking for a smart switch that will mount in the wall, but will allow Home Assistant to receive button presses while keeping full power to the fixture.
