I just got a ZBT-2 and the setup was genuinely flawless. I'm really happy with how it went. Migrating from the ZBT-1 took a couple of minutes and just worked straight away.

Does the ZBT-2 need to stay connected to the Server Running Home Assistant or can I locate it further away? (optimal location would be in the middle floor of my house but my NAS is on the ground floor near the front). I remember seeing people speaking about this functionality but I don't see anything on the product page.

It communicates via USB. If you want to do that get something like a SLZB-06 which can work standalone via ethernet/PoE too.

I believe there is an experimental way to use Wi-Fi but maybe that was for the ZWA-2. There was also a thread about using a PoE device kit to pass the signal longer and then have a USB cable at the end. I don't know where I saw it but I think Reddit.
