My wife’s phone stopped updating her Geolocation/Zone after 2 years of working just fine. I’ve disabled/deleted entities/user/ all on the HA side but no joy. I’ve removed and reinstalled the app on the iPhone several times. I’ve checked the “sensors” on the iPhone companion app and they are enabled. I’ve removed her account rebooted and added her again.

I’ve done restarts after every change or reboots and no change.

I’ve tried everything I could find in every topic, but none of it works. Is this a bug in the companion app or the HA? Please see the attached files. I can post the companion app log files when she gets home IRL (🙂 but the only way I can test is for her to leave for work!

Everything always says she’s in the home zone.

Hello. Yes everything is configured correctly as it has been for years.

iOS permissions are set to always.

Do you confirm you executed every step from the checklist above?

What’s the app version?

Yes, I can confirm I've done every step! 🙂 2026.2.1

I've spent 2 days deleting the iOS app, the HA user, bouncing the HA server, etc. I'm sure I've done every step including manually delete the entities.

The Mobile App inside HA is reporting the iPhone type as a 13,2. Pretty sure that this is an iPhone 11. Mine is a 13ProMax which is also reported as a 14,3. Do these values not correlate to the iPhone versions?

No. Those are internal device models, they don’t follow the marketing models

#

Please export the companion app logs and DM to me (from the phone having the issue of course)

Will do as soon as she gets home for real! 🙂

While she is not, try using the push notification command request_location_update https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/notifications/notification-commands/
to see if something changes

The Companion apps offer a lot of different notification options. In place of posting an actual notification on the device you can instead send a command as the message to trigger certain actions on your phone. Read below to find out what commands are supported on each platform.

So, essentially I'm just sending a message just to see if it will update the location, right? Kind of like a ping?
