I have some PC parts laying around Ryzen 5 2600 32GB DDR4 RAM with a EVGA GTX 1660 card on the motherboard if I bought a case and some fans would this be more than reliable to run home assistant and some extras ( Emby,Immich,Adguard) and a couple others maybe even host a minecraft/hytale server as well... I see people talking mini PCs but was curious if I used these parts I have to make a good server any thoughts?? if not what else should I be looking at? Mini PC the way to go?? I could probably run Olama or something as well but how much is 2 much???

It'll be fine. A bit wasteful but it'll work
That kind of pc could easily draw 50+W of power when idling. 10W of power 24/7 is 10-20 dollars depending on electricity costs, so compared to a 10-20W mini pc you might be costing yourself 60 dollars a year in excess electricity before you start doing anything with it
But it'll definitely work to run stuff on while you get an idea of what you want to do.
As for hardware suggestions - I got a beelink n100 mini pc for like £120 in a sale and it's been running ha, z2m, and a bunch of other services for me for a couple of years quite happily now. Highly recommend
@sullen zephyr I think you are correct on saving energy with a mini PC so you have 8gb of memory and all is well? I see they make a newer model with 16GB I worry about RAM a bit but maybe I shouldn't lol all though hytale is my only worry if I host a server that requires at least 4GB of RAM otherwise nothing should be very heavy in RAM use id assume.
I just checked and it is 12 ram weirdly
hmm don't see that one but all is well with the 12? lol
oh i found the 12gb one its 279.00 in the US
Well I have 8 for home assistant, and then 512MB for z2m, mqtt, and some other lxc on proxmox, haven't run into any issues so far
Oof that's pricey - I was lucky and was looking around black Friday time so the discounts were good
ok sounds good Im gonna think it over but may go with 16gb of ram if I decide to go mini
Fair
yea I don't think RAM prices help anymore seems RAM is going waaaay up in price
thanks for your input
No worries. I'm sure others will chime in as well.
if i decide to get one you may see me back to learn about proxmox 🤣
I'm a big fan of "use what you've got" if you're just getting started though
I have a home assistant Blue I guess maybe I should of mentioned that part...
doh!
Community scripts. I don't know shit about proxmox - I just let smarter people sort it out for me
Haha no worries.
just more worried it may fail me since I got it when it first came out not sure how long it will last don't want to go without HA so planning my next move, plus id like to start hosting more stuff 🙂
Gotcha
