Hi, why do I have this strange large view and not the small one with the new area mode for the dashboard?

I don't think it will come back.
The new Home Overview is now the default (next release will add the ability to hide it and edit name, icon, sidebar visibility and make it admin only - see release notes for 2026.3 when it lands on 4th of march).
If you want a different dashboard look, you can to make your own, start with an empty dash (new dashboard from scratch) then add you cards and arrange them the way you want, there are a lot of youtube videos and reddit posts on how to do it (try with default cards first - custom stuff is more difficult and can create issues and frustration especially for begginers).
Make them simple, put only stuff that you actually use, use visibility conditions to make stuff appear only when needed, automate what you can so you don't have to manually do stuff if possible...
