I have two U100 locks from Aquara, registered with HomeKit. I use my Apple TV as my Home Kit hub, and I have no trouble communicating with them via Home. It's about 30 feet and 2-3 walls between them.

Now, I'm playing around with Home Assistant. It seems that my HA device (HAOS) is not communicating with them. It knows they exist, but I added a button for one to my a dashboard and it never reflects the correct status. Clicking the button changes them to "locking" for a bit, but it never changes status to Locked. (there or in Home Kit). The HAOS box is closer to the locks (1 floor above, and about 6 horizontal feet).

I acknowledge there's a chance this is a problem with dashboard building. Apologies if this is the wrong channel to start with.

Please provide suggestions to help isolate the problem. I do have an E1 Hub installed and running, but I don't know that it's working right and/or needed.

It's not the dashboard. This screen shot shows me doing it using the device on HA directly. I tried moving the E1 Hub to no avail.
