#Presence Sensor

Do you want mmwave or pir?
i want a presence so mmwave
Bought ld2410 and ld2450
Was just checking. A lot of people call pir presence sensors because they don't know the difference
okay. ๐ ๐
Both are good - it depends what you want to use it for - the 10 is lower power and better detection range, whereas the 50 can detect multiple people simultaneously and give you XY coordinates.
The 10 is a little outdated now though, the 12 is a bit more expensive but a lot more capable
Ok, then I'm gonna buy the 12.
I thought about combining them so 12 just for detection if someone is there and 50 for the zone
Yeah that's quite a common approach - the apollo automation r-something and everything presence pro both use multiple sensors
I wanted to go the cheaper way. Hope it works ๐
Honestly I'm not sure how much cheaper it works out. When it comes to doing that level of sensing in my next house I'll probably go with one of them just for ease of use
What extra better sensors do they have?
But I mean 50โฌ compared to like 15โฌ is quite a difference.
PoE is something I want to minimise wiring but keeping my WiFi from getting cluttered, and just an olimex PoE ISO board (not a great form factor for this kind of sensor imo) is 25-30 on it's own
Then throw in a pir sensor to pick up motion a bit quicker when people enter the room (useful for light control) and lux sensor and you will be close to that 50Eur in component cost, then you've got to put it in a case
yeah. PoE is nice, but I don't have those ports all over my house. And the Sensors I bought are just for testing. Maybe I'll add a pir and lux later.
What do you think is the best way to combine these two sensor together in HA?
Yeah that's fair.
Honestly as cheeky as it is, just look at how the pros do it
