I'm curious to hear how people here set an alarm to wake up in the morning, specifically with android. My idea seemed simple: old android phone + f-droid + home assistant app should allow me to have a relatively decent morning routine. The new phone stays in the kitchen and with the old one attached to the nightstand it makes doomscolling before sleep impossible. So far so good. This is where it goes wrong:
I learned the hard way that the standard clock/alarm app is beyond saving. Only the first time an alarm rings it goes full screen and the subsequent snoozes get lost in the push notification bar. For normal use not a problem but half-asleep with one eye open this has made me oversleep multiple times because i waved at the phone slightly wrong. This cannot be fixed under android 13.
So off to f-droid we go. Which alarm app will always use full screen and can talk to home assistant? I found only things that were no longer maintained. I want to avoid building a home assistant dashboard with an alarm as that adds too many points of failure (home assistant server, wifi, etc) and I cant oversleep too often if I am to keep my job.
